It’s worth climbing the 418 steps to this viewpoint above Alesund. A constant stream of people in the summer. Beautiful views over the town at the top. Cafe at the top.

If you’re in Ålesund it’s a must! Worth the visit, it’s free! You have to park your car and then walk 3km at least here during the popular summer season. My mom struggled with the walk though and we were offered to go get our...More

Well worth the effort of climbing the 418 steps for the view of Alesund and surrounding islands. Plenty of rest /viewing points.

We visited here whilst on a Alesund highlights tour. Little scary on way up if you meet a coach (we met 2!) coming down but have complete faith in the drivers 😁 The views looking out are simply breathtaking! The sun was shining and looked...More

On a good weather day this has to be part of your tour of Alesund. A stunning view of the city below. The City Sightseeing Hop on Hop off bus will drop you off right at the lookout.

We did this on our own which is very doable. There are many places to stop and catch your breath and take a picture. Be sure to see the Nazi bunkers that are still there (just above the parking lot at the top of the...More

Impossible not to go up to this viewpoint if you are in Alesund. You'll enjoy a beautiful view over the old city and the surrounding water and lands. There's a restaurant up there which looked ok, although we decided to have dinner down to the...More

We visited Ålesund on a cruise and arrived at 7am. We discovered this lovely (if a little challenging) climb first thing in the morning when there were very few people walking up. The view is so nice on the way up you really want to...More

The views from the viewpoint are quite amazing. You can chose to walk up and down the 418 steps or access this from the hop on hop off bus. I would not class myself as a fit individual actually far from it but I managed...More

You can see the buses as soon as you get off the ship. It is literally a five minute walk.

Hi, the climb is not as bad as it seems and there are many resting areas with benches along the way. Some steps are very short and some are average. Even if you get only half way up, you will still get great views of the... More
