About
Jugendstilsenteret is located in the old Swan Pharmacy from 1907 and is both a museum and a national centre of Art Nouveau. The catastrophic fire of 1904 left the town of Ålesund in ashes. The rebuilding created one of Europe’s most characteristic...more

This museum was very near our hotel, and we thought we would give it a try. Entry was reasonably priced and the lady who greeted us was extremely warm and friendly. We were here for a couple of hours and really enjoyed learning a little...More

As others have described, you enter the museum through the original pharmacy which is now a cute gift shop. You can then either go through The Time Machine which is a clever presentation about the history of Alesund and the reconstruction after the devastating fire,...More

Art Deco was, really charming. The pharmacy, the Swan, was the oldest pharmacy in Norway, closed. Now it is a museum and stationary store. Kind of disappointing.

This Art Nouveau town was interesting to walk around. The Art Nouveau Centre, which was entered via a period reconstruction pharmacy, showed an interesting film from the period about the spread of Art Nouveau across Europe. However, we came away feeling underwhelmed and that there...More

This museum, which is housed in an old pharmacy, does not have a lot to offer the English speaking tourist. Admission to the exhibit is 8.50 NOK. Anyone carrying even a small purse must check it in a downstairs combination locked. The day we were...More

Starting in the old pharmacy, which is itself a fascinating Art Deco installation, you experience an extremely well done “time machine” that takes you back to 1904 and the fire that devastated the city. Lots of Art Deco exhibits than to the Kube Art galley.

The museum is relatively small, entered through a recreation of an early 1900 pharmacy. Having paid our entrance fee of £8.50 and lodged our back packs in the downstairs lockers we proceeded to explore. The museum is linked via an underground tunnel to something called...More

Best preserved art nouveau interior- sinuous staircase, dining room, displays of textiles, ceramics, furniture, posters. We watched the 14 minute multimedia story of the rebuilding of Alesund after the great fire. Must visit the museum shop and see the interior setting. The entrance ticketalso includes...More
