About
Barcode is a destination in Oslo, Norway, well known for its striking architecture. The 12 Barcode buildings is both tall and thin, and the architecture concept has received worldwide recognition. Each building is unique, but when you see them from afar, they resemble a barcode form, hence the name. The distinctive shape is Oslo’s new skyline. When visiting the area, you will discover that it is more to experience than the modern architecture. You will find restaurants, shops, services and galleries on the street level that is worth the trip alone. Welcome!

    Strikingly modern architecture
Barcode district is a redevelopment on former dock and industrial land next to the Opera House. It consists of twelve narrow high-rise buildings of different heights and widths. The buildings are built with some space in between them, thus resembling a barcode.

    What a hoot!
This is not a district that overwhelms the visitor. It is unique architecture and an integration of business structures with unique designs within a larger district with apartment buildings of less distinction. We were impressed. Do take the bridge over the railroad tracks as part of your visit to this district.

Cute and refreshing place to see
A "modern" part of the city. Worth a visit and spending some time around. It really gives a special vibe. It's probably best from a panoramic view but walking in between the building is as rewarding. I haven't been able to find the viewpoint, besides the one from the train rails. Perhaps any other way to see it is from the boat.

There was no instruction to say how to order. Didn't make it obvious to order from the table only.

Tried to order and the app failed. Waste of time.

We like modern architecture so in our book this is a winner. Crossing Akrobaten bru gave marvellous vistas of the full extent of the array of constructs.

Walking amongst and between the arrays impressed with the soaring height of the gleaming materials.

While finding support amongst some Oslo residents, undoubtedly it has provoked controversy and much debate, with others saying it is not in keeping with the low rise city, and more.

A new neighborhood with a few building with very interesting architecture. There is also an interesting footbridge over the track area at Oslo Central Station, named Akrobaten bru.
Here you can find "Barcode Street Food", a place where you can experience both traditional and untraditional international cuisine.

Nice modern architecture. However, nothing I haven't seen elsewhere, but I think the name has increased the interest in these buildings. Don't know wether the name was officially given or has it become a nickname. Stayed in the Clarion hotel on the opposite side of the street with a room facing the bar code, so I could admire it day and night. Another place I got a great view was from the rooftop of the opera house.

One of the ugliest row of new buildings in the world. Style over substance. An eyesore.

It's one of those things that could ruin the look of an entire city. And Oslo but them front and center. Ment to be wow instead of nice and practical.

One of the buildings won an award for thinnest building of some sort. Why? What can that possibly be good for? Could there be a reason no one goes this thin? Yes, it's just not practical.

Like I said, the building are an eyesore. Except for maybe one, but I'll leave it to you to figure out which one.

A big complex and district of modern architecture. Striking new norwegian architecture and new city planning. Just a few years ago this area was totally different. This is a kind of showroom of modern architecture.
