- Brian DDenver, Colorado2,393 contributionsExcellent Customer Service - Great Product - Very HelpfulThe staff was very helpful. When arriving in Oslo at the airport, purchased the Oslo City Pass in advance online. Purchased a discounted train ticket to get from airport to central station. The discounted ticket was available because of the city pass. Unfortunately, the city pass wouldn't load on the mobile app. Immediately received a response on the app and was informed there were some technical issues and I would need to purchase the city pass again and they would refund my original purchase. Unfortunately again, this did not work. The staff tried one more time and the city pass just wouldn't load. Fortunately, I was traveling to central station and that is where this visitor center is located. I stopped by the visitor center and they took care of everything for me. I had to use a paper pass for all 3 days, but I got used to that pretty quickly and was able to enjoy my entire time in Oslo thanks to the support that was provided at this location. I would still recommend the online city pass because that allows for a discount on the train from the airport. If you buy your city pass in-person, you miss out on that discount. No need to worry because they will take care of you here if you have any issues with the app. One thing to note is there may be a take-a-number system, so be sure to check for that before heading to the counter. Don't forget to ask for a map as well!Visited August 2022Written 10 October 2022
- Tasha E36 contributionsHelpful staff, great for tourists and our many questionsFirstly, I would recommend arriving early to avoid any big queues. We reached the centre around 9 and were #3 in the queue. We waited less than 5 minutes to be served. An aesthetically pleasing space with friendly, helpful staff. There were three on-site. They answered any questions we had (mostly about transportation options to the airport the next day). 100% recommend getting the Oslo Pass if you want to see a lot of the city’s exhibitions and plan on using the bus to traverse it.Visited March 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 25 March 2023
- Irishrover mBrisbane, Australia537 contributionsWell worth a visitThe Visitor Centre is well placed in the centre of the city, opposite good hotels and eateries...in the square. They opened at 9 a.m. and readily supplied us with information needed to buy the Oslo Card, which was good for 48 hours enabling entry to many museums, transport etc. Having the card is a real bonus, money wise, and also for convenience.Hello, Thank you for your much appreciated feedback. The Oslo Pass is the most convenient way to travel with public transports and visit museums and attractions in the city. We hope you enjoyed your stay in Oslo! Welcome back any time :) Best regards Oslo Visitor CentreWritten 9 January 2020This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited December 2019Written 6 January 2020

I contacted the Visitor Centre directly about an employee how was exemplary.
"(June 2023) I was in Norway for 4 days last month and utilized the Visitors Center. I want to make note of the ease of using the center, cleanliness and professionalism of Olav. I went 2 days in a row for a recommendation of a short trip out of the city and the next day regarding train travel to the airport. Olav assisted me on both occasions and the instructions were very helpful and easy to follow."

This is small but the staff here approached me asking if they could help. I was fresh of the plane and they were very helpful indeed. I ended up going back a couple days later for something and they were just as helpful then. Thumbs Up.

Best time to be there early or late afternoon. Maps and information are readily available, as is a nice book on Oslo highlights.
If you are in town for a few days, want to visit several museums and use public transit, it's a good idea to look into the Oslo pass. We bought ours at the Visitor Center, and used it extensively for transportation and museums.

The visitor center is smaller than I had expected and there was a bit of a line to see one of the staff. But they did have helpful information and maps. We also bought our 2 day Oslo City pass there and we certainly made good use of the pass which included a very large number of museums, points of interest and transportation.

We are arriving in Oslo at approximately 13:00 on Saturday. We are staying overnight at an airport hotel. We would love to see as much as possible of your beautiful city. Any suggestions on where and what transportation to take?
We are glad to hear you are coming to Oslo :)
The local train runs 3 times per hour, at XX:03, XX:13 and XX:43 from the airport. The ticket costs 105kr per adult, and 54kr per senior over 67 years old.
The express train called Flytoget runs every 10 minutes, the ticket costs 196 kr per adult and 98kr per senior.
They both take approx. 23/25 minutes from the airport to the central station. These are the fastest options to reach the city.
The station is right in the centre of the city, take the main street Karl Johan and walk all the way to the Royal Palace. It will take 20/30 minutes.
Check also the harbour area called Aker Brygge, where you can also see the City Hall and the Akershus Fortress.
For sightseeing tours and more information visit our helpful website.
Wishing you a nice stay in Oslo

My husband and I will spend a day exploring Oslo during our cruise. I would love to visit the Botanical Gardens and Vigeland Sculpture Park. What is the best means of transportation to these tourist attractions? I considered the HOHO bus but I'm not sure if it stops near the Botantical Gardens. Thank you for your assistance!
Hello, thank you for contacting us. The HOHO bus does not stop close to the Botanical Garden unfortunately, you have to take the subway from the central station to Tøyen.
As an alternative, you could walk from the cruise terminal to the stop called "Kontrasjæret" (5 min walking distance) and take the tram number 12 to Vigelandsparken (direction Majorstuen). From the park you can walk or take the same tram 12 to Majorstuen and take every eastbound subway line to Tøyen, where the Botanical Garden is located. To go back to the cruiseship you can take the bus 60 from Tøyenkirken to Vippetangen.
A daily transport ticket (105 nok adult - 53 nok senior over 67) will allow you to take these transports.
Please check the public transport website (Ruter) for information, map and schedule times.
Looking forward to welcoming you to Oslo!

Bonjour

Bienvenido a Oslo.
