The Akerselva River flows through Oslo. There is a wonderful river pedestrian footpath along the river. At Grünerløkka there are several picturesque waterfalls cascading past several restaurants. Well worth a hike out to this location along the river bank.

It’s impressive how much you can be amazed by a waterfall. But when you see it in the middle of apartment blocks and normal city pace, it actually reminds you of nature’s beauty. The best place for a relaxing moment.

One of my favorite places in Oslo. Located not so far from the city centre (you can walk along the river from Opera / Bjørvika area), it makes you feel closer to nature and offers a stunning view no matter what the season and weather...More

This waterfall very cool and a must see in Oslo, but as fas as I’m concerned that goes for almost the entire Akerselva river: walking alongside that is so enjoyable. Aside from this big waterfall it has some smaller ones as well, that are just...More

Follow the river up to Vulkan 11 and hear the raging waters before you see them. Really enjoyed this waterfall. Not big by any means, but there are kids playing at the small water park next to it even in the rain and cold.

The whole Akerselva rute is very nice and a must thing to do in Oslo. Walking by the river and near the area of Grunerløkka you will meet this small but beautiful waterfall which is frozen for many months during the winter. During the spring...More

The map direction linked from the tripadvisor app is somehow wrong on my phone. Anyway you will reach this place if you walk along the river from city center.

We had already spent a few days in Oslo and had done several of the "touristy" things in the more central part of the city. However, this trail and its waterfalls were off the beaten path. The area had a more laid-back and hip vibe....More

The waterfall is easily accessible, at the Grünerlokka area. You can walk there & relax, while it's totally worth to stop by the Hønse-Lovisas house for a coffee, waffles etc. I totally recommend it.
