    Certainly worth a visit
It is free to enter and it is well worth a spot on your tour itinerary. The main hall is interesting but the highlight is the upstairs galleries filled with painted walls. Go down stairs too to the biggest coat room ever!

What's not to like? Its free!
Always admired the City hall from the outside, not realising it was open to the public. Was admiring the outside art of Norse mythology when realised people were walking in, checked with security and . . .no problem. It is probably only a 20 minute walk around but able to see great arty walls on two floors and walk through the council chamber. If you walk past, go in it's not what you expect!

    Huge historical murals
Spent time here avoiding a number of wedding-goers and photographers to look at the huge murals and paintings. Many carvings? on the outside of the building illustrating Norse stories. Be prepared to go through airport-like security.

Looks bleak outside. Some very communist murals on the walls. The area where the peace prize is given is just a hall. Some of the rooms have moderate and interesting decorations.

Nice place to spend half an hour. Quite an impressive array of paintings and huge area to wonder around for a bit. Upstairs rooms were closed to public.

It's absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I feel like it's a must in Oslo. Interesting architecture from the outside, stunning from the inside. Massive murals represent the history of Norway - progression from an agricultural country to a rich, European power.

I suggest launching some classical Norwegian music for the vibe and enjoying the full experience.

There are two floors of exhibits to see here. The lobby has huge paintings, covering from one side to the other end. These paintings depict Norwegian ives/ activities. Upstairs are more exhibits encased in glass, meeting rooms wth painted walls, session hall, etc.

Outside are more arts exhibits, showing some folklore stories of Norway. I took several pictures here and inside. Entrance is FREE. Toilets are in the Basement. Enjoy your visit here!

Although the City Hall from outside does not make the best impression (at least for me), it is worth to step by in to see the gallery and exhibits. It's impressive.

Beautiful example of 30's architecture and a great way to start your day in Oslo. The entrance is free and apart from the building itself, its context is also very interesting.

Surprisingly interesting artwork for a public building. The huge murals inside are very impressive. We especially liked the wooden panels in the outer courtyard that told stories from Norse mythology.

Within the City Hall, there is a beautiful collection of paintings representing the history of the region. They are massive and impressive. Worth a quick 30-45 minute detour for sure.
