Not overrun by tourists, it is an interesting fortress with nice rooms and a WW2 occupation museum which $$ to enter. Nice views over the harbor and close to where the cruise boast tie up. Wear comfortable shoes for the cobblestones.

A nice walk around the old fort and very nice views of the harbor. But the main attraction is closed for repairs, and there’s so much else to do in Oslo that is more interesting.

Not much was open and no charge to walk around but it is pleasant to walk inside the walls. The resistance museum is inside the fortress and that is very interesting. There is a charge to go in the museum . Nice views of the...More

Located not far from the Oslo City Hall, the old fortress has nice views of the harbor and it is interesting to see the architecture of the old medieval fortress. Not much was open to view when I was there, but it was all a...More

The Akerhus castle contains the military school, thus you can only walk around but not have a look inside. The area is nicely prepared, but unspectacular. You have a beautiful view on the bay ... that’s it 😉

Akershus fortress is a nice place to walk around, but I wouldn't call it anyway magnificient or stunning. If you've seen big, impressive castles before this is not gonna "wow" you. But like I said, it's worth the 15-30 minutes walk around the area, especially...More

It’s an active place as the Norwegian military still uses it. There are 2 museums and it gives a good view of the harbour.

We strolled up the hill from our Cruise Ship's birth and found an information centre at the city side of the complex. They offered one hour guided walking tours covering a free mapped area for 60 krone (very cheap). Our english tour guide was excellent....More

Lot of areas were closed for maintenance and repairs. Not very impressive. There are some offices functioning there.

As others have said, the fortress is free; a large area to walk around and a glorious walk around the harbour to get there (if the weather is kind). The castle interior entry is 70NOK for adults and 50NOK for seniors. I... More
