Our guide Roy was very welcoming and nice and was very enthusiastic about trying to find the northern lights or aurora borealis. On the day of our tour, it was very cloudy and we already had assumed it would not be possible, but Roy’s confidence allowed us to see the aurora. Even though we had to travel very far away. 10/10 would recommend

If I could give this 10 stars I would. Our tour with Roy was amazing, especially compared to one of the “big bus” tours we took before our tour with Roy. The experience of having a local, and passionate, guide made all the difference. Roy took every step possible to ensure the group was comfortable, well fed, and having a good time. The location he took us to was remote, he set up a bonfire to roast sausages, fish cakes, salmon, smores, etc. We were lucky that the lights were indeed dancing and we were able to see them for several hours. I’d recommend this tour with Roy time and time again!

We went on an aurora chase with Roy during our vacation in Tromsø. He planned a perfect trip by choosing a quiet place in the countryside near a fjord which was sheltered from the wind so that it was not too cold to enjoy the night out. He gave us warm clothes and lit a campfire where we kept warm and had a wonderful barbecue with hot drinks while waiting for the northern lights (there was plenty of food, but the salmon Roy cooked for us was delicious!). Eventually, aurora came out and gave us quite a long show: Roy also took beautiful pictures of us! He’s a very nice person and does everything to make your experience comfortable and fun (during the drive, he gave us lots of cookies and snacks). We had a really good time and would definitely recommend Roy and Reetta’s tours.

We were lucky enough to stay a night with Roy, Reetta and their 2 kids. We had such an amazing time and can't thank them enough for the wonderful experience. From the very first moment they made us feel at home and took care of us in the best possible way. We especially liked the fact that they are genuinely lovely people and only want the best for their guests.

When you decide to stay with them (and you should) there are so many nice things you can do. We did some ice fishing followed by what Roy called "something small to bite", which turned out to be an amazing meal with lots of local and homemade dishes. After that we decided to try out the traditional way of cross-country skiing (thanks Roy for being patient with us and for being such a good instructor). When we returned to their house Reetta already heated up the sauna which is this amazing self-built wooden cabin in their garden. Dinner was prepared, we made some cinnamon buns over the fire and had lots of good conversations.

Honestly, if we had known how this experience turns out in advance, we would have surely stayed much longer with them. What an amazing family! Roy, Reetta, we hope to see you very soon again!

Best wishes,
Olivia & Philipp

Roy and his family are truly salt and light of the earth. They truly gave me an experience of a lifetime. Not only the beautiful landscape of their homeland, their kindess and generosity for their guest cannot be described in words. I will always think highly of Roy and his family and I will recommend Arctic Trip wherever I go.

This was our very first trip to see the elusive Northern lights and it was simply marvellous. Thanks to Mother Nature, of course, because we DID see Aurora Borealis in its full glory, but also thanks to our fantastic guide Roy. He is a genuinely kind and generous guy; so passionate about his job – and it shows! With great driving skills on tricky wintery roads; a bottomless “treasure chest” of food (BBQ kept us happy and sufficiently warm), he was looking after us in all possible ways - providing insulating winter overalls if needed, professional ‘techno-help’ with taking photos, making sure we were OK and didn’t miss our chance with Aurora.
We also had an opportunity to meet (and talk to) his wife - such a lovely and hospitable team they are!
I can certainly recommend their services to anyone longing for adventure. THANK YOU!!

We are so lucky to have been able to book our tour with Roy. He is a local, so he knows the area around and a lot of stories. He is also friendly and welcoming.

We love that it is a family operation as well. His wife Reetta came to pick us up in Tromsø and then he took over.

He asked us what we wanted to eat/drink and bought food and snacks.

He made a fire and we had a barbecue and hot beverages. We had such a great time.

He also made sure everyone wasn’t cold and took very good care of us.

He also went above and beyond to make sure we saw the northern lights, and took us all the way to Finland. It was an amazing trip!

Thank you again Roy and Reetta !

We had an amazing experience with Roy. He had so much knowledge and was so warm and friendly. He kept checking if everyone was okay or needed anything.

We had an amazing campfire where we could barbeque the huge amount of food that Roy brought and topped off with amazing homemade cookies made by his wife.

Had a lovely viewing of the lights. Would definitely recommend Roy for a Northern Lights Tour.

We (myself and wife, 63/57) had a great experience with Roy for NL chasing in March 2023 from Tromso. There were just 5 of us and Roy drove us to a few places south of Tromso and finally to his campground outside his house in the village of Nordkjosbotn..

We were very lucky with NL that day and the aurora meter showed a KP of 6.00 and suggested a 95% chance of seeing the lights that night - and it turned out to be an excellent night for the lights. We saw the usual green, as well as red and blue and Roy took excellent pictures with his hi-tech camera.

We were also welcomed inside his house, and this worked well as we found it difficult to manage the -18C weather outside ! The hospitality offered by Roy and his wife Raetta was so soothing and welcoming in this chilly weather.

The bonfire and barbeque on the camp grounds was so nice ! - Roy also made very nice cauliflower soup for us...

A great life experience - fully recommended and hopefully we can go again to Tromso to take part in Roy's other activities...
