If you are into geography, surveying or history this is a great place to visit. Easy to get to and plenty of parking as well as a very good information board about the project. Highlight of Hammerfest

Easily accessible by car or even by foot from the city, this UNESCO World Heritage listed monument marks the first point of the Geodetic Arc commemorating the attempts to measure the size and shape of the Earth in the the 19th century.

The spot is very interesting for people who like to understand how the knowledge of our planet has evolved. Nice site, but poor accommodation. The information is beautiful, but a little bit more "putting in the focus", would be better.

Just a short drive out of town this is an interesting spot to visit, not particularly scenic but part of an important scientific project worth acknowledging.

The Struve Geodetic Arc is one of a chain of survey triangulations stretching from Hammerfest in Norway to the Black Sea. It is used in the measurement of a meridian.
