Best craft ale house in Paphos
Would highly recommend a visit to this quirky bar. From the harbour you need to go past the bars that water down your drinks and off the strip to find it, we found this by accident on day 2 but we ended up in Alexander’s Pub next door - it was a Wednesday and the Old Fishing Shack was closed! We followed up with a visit on the following day to check the place out and were not disappointed, Athos, the owner, is a very amiable host with a very dry sense of humour who engages with all his customers, it’s so nice to watch the interactions and these often bring other customers into conversation with each other. The choice of beers is quite extensive, most, except the 0% Leffe Blonde, are in the high %ages and require consuming with care and Athos is mindful of this with his customers. As other people have said Athos remembers what you like (even though I skip around all over the styles of beer I will try to be consistent within a session) and will often suggest your next beer, one such was a fabulous caramel fudge stout (slightly pricier than what I was budgeting but well worth it). Did I say we went every night after our first visit? That in itself means a lot, my wife, Karen, does not like beer and very often it is a struggle in beer bars to accommodate her tastes so we usually have a quick one and move on, no such issue at the Old Fishing Shack, she couldn’t wait to get up there for a Drambuie (other spirits, wines, frozen ciders/sangrias, etc. available) and to soak up the comings and goings of customers and passers by - plus all the cars that pomp their horns on the way past. Unfortunately today is Wednesday so we will have to find somewhere else to drink tonight which will not be the same and as we fly home tomorrow we will take with us great memories from a great (understated) bar and a very nice host. Do not walk past and do find out where it is you won’t be disappointed. *One tip is to look at the beer menu before going, I had a look on the sunbed and gave myself a few suggestions for when we got there each day. Go to the old fishing shack website and look at the menu. Shout out to customers Ian & Linzi who (among others) we had a great laugh with at Pinball Wizard being played by Elton at Glastonbury and thanks for the Amsterdam bar recommendations. Athos, we will return, don’t know when yet but we’ll see you again. (Steve & Karen)

    Best beer in Paphos
Terribly slack of me but I visited Paphos last autumn and forgot to post a review of this brilliant, welcoming, friendly bar which is a haven for lovers of beer from Cyprus, Greece and around the world. Must've been the effects of a 7% IPA. Athos is drily witty and will recommend (and have) a beer that you like. Recommended

Only stopped for one but will definitely be back again. For craft beer lovers this is a pub you need to go to. Excellent choice of any type and taste of beer. If ever on a night out, get yourself to this pub even if it's just for one

    Beer, blues and cats ❤️❤️
As soon as I discovered there was a highly recommended real ale pub (my partner) with resident cats (me) we were straight there, and visited every night of our week in Paphos. Fantastic, quirky bar with a great vibe and an insane selection of ales. Athos is drily witty, friendly, adores his feline sidekicks and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of every beer in the bar. All of his recommendations were excellent and even I veered off vodka to try some stunning raspberry beers. The cats are beyond adorable and very partial to Dreamies so bring a plentiful supply. Met some great folk in the bar too - it’s a refreshing change from the usual Brits abroad sports bars found in abundance. No karaoke, no pub singer belting out Sweet Caroline, just phenomenal beer, superb blues music, one TV showing football, a great atmosphere…. And did I mention the cats? I actually cried when I said goodbye to Brenda (fluffy white girl). Best bar in Paphos.

Best place for beer in Cyprus! (Plus nice owner and cats!)
Wow! My husband and I make it a point to try local beers when we travel (We are from Seattle, itself a beer town). We were at a cafe and someone said that if we liked beer, this was the place! It’s incredible. I mean really….. increíble…Very friendly owner with an encyclopedia like beer knowledge. Over 600 beers available! Also darn cute and near our hotel. When in Pafos, this is the spot!!

    Our favourite bar in Paphos
Our second visit to Paphos would be incomplete without a repeat visit to The Old Fishing Shack. How Athos remembers all the beers he stocks is a mystery to us! Just tell him what you like, and he'll supply you with a great choice every time. He has excellent knowledge & a great choice of drinks, not just beer but ciders and glasses of wine too. Plus very friendly four legged friends.. 🐈 😻 🐈‍⬛️ Thankyou again for your hospitality Athos 😊

    Best bar in Paphos
Lovely bar with a hugh selection of craft beers from Cyprus and around the world. Athos is very friendly & has a genuine interest in his customers and made us feel very welcome. He quickly understood what types of beers we liked and made suggestions of new ones for us to try which were always really good. We went into the bar every day and enjoyed every second we were there. We can't wait to return next time we're in Paphos.

This is such a quirky place I love all the choices of beers here. Athos the owner is full of knowledge. You tell him what you like and he will find the perfect beer for you. The cats are a plus. Take Dreamies for them.
