Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very interesting Neolithic site, which is free to visit. I would have liked some more information about it, and it is sad that one of the reconstructed houses has a roof which has collapsed, but it is well worth a visit, The reconstructions are good, and its amazing how on a very hot day it was so cool inside. Would recommend a visit if you are ineterested in very early history.

If you like learning about the local history it’s fantastic - amazing to see what was discovered and the “re built” village is very useful to picture what you’re looking at when looking at the ruins.

We visited November 2021. Was only 1km away from the hotel so decided to walk. It is worth a visit if you have some spare time. It is very small but is interesting to see how the buildings used to be.

We visited the site on a Wednesday mid-afternoon. It was signed from the main Coral Bay to Paphos road up a road opposite the Helios Bay Hotel. There is a small crushed earth car park near the site although the car park is not signed. Unfortunately the site was closed and deserted with the gates locked.

It was possible to view the excavation sites and the reconstructed roundhouses through the fence. Whilst there was a brown sign identifying the site as "Prehistoric Settlement Lempa-Lakkoi" there was no further information outside the site although we could see a panel inside the site that we were unable to read from outside the fence. Unfortunately there was no information as to when the site would be open to visitors.

The reconstructed roundhouses provided an impression of how the settlement would have appeared in prehistoric times and a photographic opportunity, however the effect was diminished by an aluminium ladder left against the side of one of the buildings, rusty metal framing on the grassed area in-front of the houses and blue plastic containers left outside one of the houses.

It was disappointing not to be able to enter the site for a closer view of the houses. We would have liked to look inside the houses but don't know if this would have been possible if the site had been open.

Only try to go to this site if you are in the vicinity, because despite what the official website says, it is currently closed, with volunteers working on restoring one of the roofs of the reconstructed dwellings. We were very lucky and drove up and a very patient archaeologist working on the site not only let us look around but talked to us for a bit about the work they are doing. When it reopens it will be a great place to start before going to other archaeological sites as it gives a good feel for what people's homes may have looked like then
