Right on Victory Square opposite St Catherine's, this is another lovely church that I only saw from the outside with lovely architecture.

Lots of restoration work done following damage during WWII. Don't miss the opportunity to go inside and spend some time appreciating.

While the outside looks insignificant when you step through the door the roof artwork and religious artifacts put this small church in a class of it's own and with the door open you know you and your donation to restoration are welcome.

The first building to have been constructed in Valletta on the instruction of Grand Master Jean de Vallette. The most beautiful marbles, and stunning original painted ceiling. Such friendly attendants too, with an obvious love of the place. Beautiful sense of peace, holiness and history.

Beautiful day and night. Shown round by a local gentleman who has always attended the church and even assisted with the decoration of the dome many years prior. Small version of St John’s Cathedral in Valletta.

If you are lucky to come upon this church when it is open, do go in. The ceilings are beautifully painted and it is one of the first churches built in Valletta.

I always find it fascinating to walk into a church, or indeed any building, and sense from the plaques or engravings that there is a story to tell. This church was no different, it was the first church and building to be completed in Valletta...More
