Beautiful Hidden Gem
Jan 2021
This place is amazing! Nearly had the place to ourselves. Only saw a few glow worms because of the time of day but the caves and little waterfalls were fantastic. But of all...it’s free!!😊. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a beautiful off the beaten path adventure!

Glow Worm Cave Tour

Fantastic tour, hugely enjoyable. Richard is an engaging, informative, humorous guide. Cave walk, fabulous glow worms plus the fun of panning for gold I cannot recommend it enough.

Amazing in the night!

Go there when it's dark - it is so beautiful out there! Thousands of glowworms glowing everywhere in the dark, looking like a sky full of stars. Nature's amazing miracle. Bring a good flashlight with you, and water-proof trekking shoes for the walk. Prepare to get wet.

Amazing!!!

Awesome free Glowworm experience.

But make sure you walk RIGHT when walking down... walked left the first time and its endless and when we saw the other reviews with “washed away, etc.”, it made sense because they were walking the wring way.

Easy 3min walk. Down the stairs and on the right you see a yellow triangle showing you the way.

There is a “man made walk” to the left which is confusing...

Amazing Glow Worm Caves
Jan 2019 • Friends
The is a fantastic walk. Walk down the path as signposted. The track has been washed out but it is possible to clamber down to the creek. Then turn *right* and walk upstream. There has clearly been a big slip into the creek at some stage but there is now a path over the top of the debris. The cliffs near the small waterfall contain seashell fossils. The cave is reached after 5 minutes or so walking up the creek. Be prepared to get wet feet (although it is shallow enough that you could wear gumboots). A headlamp/torch is handy for finding your footing in the cave. Lots of amazing glow worms (which get more impressive as your eyes adjust).

Destroyed?
Dec 2018 • Couples
Was really looking forward to what sounded like a beautiful attraction. Unfortunately it looks like the path has been washed out, even after climbing around fallen logs and through the river where the path is washed away we were only able to make it about 40m in before the path (and river) was completely impassable. In addition, the path is poorly marked and overgrown with stinging nettle which we discovered the hard way. Would love to try again after some maintenance.

looks like the trail has been washed away got to the bottom an that's as far as you can go, was so looking forward to the walk after seing the reviews but I think with all the rain there is trees fallen down and blocking the path, hope it gets fixed soon so we can try again

it is truly amazing like looking up at a night sky. There is some walking and steps to climb up but well worth it.

Limestone Creek Glow Worms Caves
Feb 2018 • Couples
I have visited a lot of Manawatus nature attractions over the last year but I think this is the best of them all. We went to see the glow worms but during the daytime did not see anything because cave is not completely dark. But the walk along the river bed in a narrow ravine is the best thing. Scenery is awesome.

Be warned, you will get your feet wet even during the summer when waters are generally low. You need an extra pair of shoes when you come back unless you are wearing gum boots. You will have to climb over slippery logs and jump over the stream. It is not a loop track so you have to walk back the same route but it is just a pleasure.

Glow worm caves are on private land, respect the nature and privacy and stay on the path! Accurate location: -39.974414, 176.007351
