It was a very special experience going into the ice caves. Our guide is very experienced in explaining the phenomenon and took good pictures for us. Apparently, guides have to look for new caves every season to provide the best experience for the tourists, which I respect. The super jeep ride was really cool. There will be a queue into the cave, so if you want to go in earlier, be on time, make sure to listen to your guide and be as fast as possible.

The people that put together our tour were AMAZING! We booked a self drive 7 day tour of Iceland and everything went smoothly. The most important thing is everyone I called on the phone is located in Iceland and have been to many of the places. (Not like most tour companies)
As soon as I booked the tour I received a very detailed itinerary. It included time, distance and information about the stops along the way and roughly how much time we needed to be there touring. I liked that for most of the trip we weren't staying in big "towns" rather we were staying in the area we were visiting. Our best stay was at the secluded Dalahyttur Lodge. The owner Grudun was amazing.all the accommodations included a nice breakfast, had comfy beds and private baths.
I HIGHLY recommend Guide to Iceland. Felt safe knowing they would be there if we needed them.
I do recommend the upgrade to a better case. We had the RAV 4 and was good on the gravel roads

Already had an itinerary and general idea of what to do where as had done a lot of research. However, once there, this online guide was so great in giving a stop by stop itinerary with a brief (but just enough) synopsis of each spot and some of what was important about it and what was actually there to determine what you actually wanted to stop and make time for. It was incredibly helpful!

I booked two tours with this company ( acting as agents for two different tour operators), the Golden Circle from Reykjavik and whale watching from Akureyri. Both went without a hitch and the staff at Guide to Iceland were always very responsive to any queries. I would highly recommend this company for anyone wanting to book tours in Iceland.

Svabbi is a great tour guide! He is very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We did the Golden Cirlce day tour with 4 stops. He took us to an added stop which was such a treat. Be prepared for every kind of weather—we experienced wind, sun, rain, sleet, and snow on this tour.

A minor hiccup regarding pickup arrangements was soon resolved by Shen, highly professional. The excursion was a great experience with a very professional driver who provided a lot if interesting cultural and historical information along the way. Iceland is a magical place with fascinating geology and history. This trip's highly recommended to visit some of the popular sites.

Guide to Iceland did a fine job arranging our tour. The lodgings were all in good order and we were heartily greeted, with some places more rustic and some city slick. An interesting combination of these two was Holt Inn (through the tunnel from Isafjordur), offering "isolated elegance." And while there don't miss an excellent dinner at Kaffi Sol on the outskirts of Flateyrie.
There were a couple of glitches in our itinerary. In part this was because we were traveling outside of the high season that starts in June. Off-season travelers be aware that for instance the ferry to and from Hornstradir may run only occasionally or not at all when you are scheduled to be there, and similarly the Baldur ferry may make limited runs that may not dovetail perfectly with your itinerary. We improvised some alternative adventures when left with open time (Iceland offers a ton of options, if you look) and Guide to Iceland worked nicely with us.

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone can help me with a specific question about a reservation I made with Guide to Iceland as I am getting very confusing answers from different people when I ask them directly.
We have booked through the website the cottage #5 in Selfoss.
I would like to have any input about that place from anyone who stayed there (there are very few reviews about it).
Things I am getting confused about:
Do we have to arrange for linen and towels separatelly from our booking whith Guide to Iceland? How much does it cost? and How do we make sure there will be linen and towels?
The location on the guide to Iceland website indicate that the cottage is in Sellfoss but the description and the picture do not correspond to this it looks like it is close to Geysir? Does anyone know?
When we book with guide to Iceland they do not talk about a cleaning fee, but they forwarded me an answer from Bungalo the company managing the cottage and in their answer they talk about a cleaning fee? Is the price quoted by guide to Iceland is the price you end up paying or is there extras that will be charged in the end such as linens and cleaning fees? If the respnse I got from Bungalo is true (then the price quoted by Guide to Iceland is not accurate and it will cost me the double for my reservation).
Thank you for providing any input that would clarify this situation for me.

It depends on what you want to do. If you are looking for hiking and great outdoor adventure, the warmer summer months are better but crowds will be bigger.
If you want northern lights, winter would be best. Shoulder seasons have fewer crowds and good options. Any time of year can experience weather swings, so be prepared for variations in weather.

Hi. I'm staying in Reykjavik next month and am hoping to walk from Hotel Fron to the whale museum. On Google maps it looks like a 26 min walk which is fine, but the pictures look like I'm walking on the road? Is there a footpath to walk on, or would it be better to get a taxi? Also if I get lost, is it signposted?

I would recommend a self-drive package that allows you to be as flexible as you want to be and select the places you want to see and skip those you do not - this is particularly relevant for families with kinds. Regarding going east or west - this would greatly depend on how many days you are coming and what your interests are! HI! We are well aware the light is limited in winter time and we optimize the itineraries to make sure you can enjoy the best that Iceland has to offer. Bear in mind too that while there is limited daylight, brightness is around 6-8 hours where you can explore and enjoy the amazing sceneries in winter and the northern lights if you are lucky!

I suggest you take the 6 day Reykjavk to ICe cave. As for an infant the temperatures are between 1 and -1 so you will have to wrap him up.
