Lovely little stop just beyond Reykjavik. The scenery was beautiful, make sure to pay attention to the tide times when visiting, we cut it a bit close and had a rising tide on our way in making it much more difficult to get back. Ovearll,...More

Pleasant views of the bay and port. Easy stroll around if the weather cooperates. Popular destination- rumor is that it also serves as a Reykjavík lovers lane.

Interesting building, nice stopover, especially in the evening! We did a nice walk in the area and reached the lighthouse. The music inside is a bit weird as it sounds like ghost singing :)

A vindy but sunny day, we did enjoy the wildflowers along the walk to the lighthouse as well as on the beach area. A pack of friendly horses in a nearby paddock added some extra icelandic touch..

You don't need to book a tour to see the Northern Lights, you can just come to the Grotta Lighthouse! Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the lights while we were there because of the clouds, but there were many cars there waiting with us,...More

you can walk but it takes roughly an hour. there is also a bus you can catch - for example for the way back. make sure to chevk the weather because the walkway is very exposed to wind and rain.

Sunset is between 8 and 9 pm and you will have the sun behind the lighthouse on the sea (perfect photo opportunity). Sunrise is between 5 and 6 am.
