I’m a travel agent, and I embarked with 2 of my clients, on a 13-days tour of Iceland in July, their peak summer season, with Fun Travel Iceland, and it was a fantastic tour. Before the tour started, I had communicated for quite some time with Jens, the owner and guide, asking all kinds of questions which my clients had asked, and he was excellent in terms of quick responses, organization, knowledge, and experience not only with office matters, but overall operation and information of the tour. It was a pleasure working with Jens.
On the itinerary: Every place of visit was fantastic – in terms of historical, cultural and especially the geography. The scenery was fantastic, with lots of waterfalls, and each waterfall is different. We drove along the fjords, and the geography and geology was simply amazing. We visited geothermal pools and geysers, lava fields, glaciers, hot springs, fishing villages, wildlife (Arctic Fox & Puffins)…..and the sun hardly sets at this time of year. There were some light activities involving trekking through canyons and streams, hiking up a couple of small volcanoes. We range in ages from 50 to 67, and we were all healthy, so these activities did not present any issues.
On food: We got to try local Icelandic dishes…..excellent seafood and lamb meat, and they were delicious. Pretty much all breakfasts and dinners.
On accommodations: The hotels and guesthouses were very good, but the main thing is that the accommodations were located near to coasts/fjords or highlands, so that the scenery around is just wonderful.
Jens is a very careful driver and made sure safety was a priority. He was also flexible in stopping for restroom breaks and snacks.
In summary, all I can say is that Iceland has to be on one’s bucket list, and Fun Travel Iceland is one of the best tour companies that I have gone on! I will go back again but, during the winter for the aurora borealis or northern lights!

We had to do a shortened version of the 10 day Icelandic Tour, so Jens gave us an adventure of a lifetime tour packed into a seven day road trip. The scenery was amazing and Jens was full of both historic information and fun facts about each place we stopped and we stopped a lot. The guesthouses we ate and slept at were also very nice. There were two stops where you would have thought you were eating at 5 Star restaurant $$$$. And if you like waterfalls you are going to love this trip.

First of all, Funtravel.is was a fantastic company to work with! Jens gave us thorough information and was quick to respond to any of our questions! The trip was more than we could have imagined………informative guide who met all of our needs, delicious meals of lamb and fish, some activity each day with a walk to a waterfall, or over a lava flow, a black sand beach or a glacier! Such varied and interesting scenery all along the tour! Thank you for sharing your country with us!

Travelling with a group of 8 adults and 2 kids and 1 infant. Around Iceland 10days during winter. Age range from almost 2 to 75.
Our guide Jens, who is also the owner of the company, is a very responsive and responsible person. Before the trip, we communicated through email, he always reply me within 24 hours which gave me a lot of confidence. In urgent case, I would contact him through WhatsApp.
He pick us up and send us from and to the airport on time.
Transportation with a minivan which is comfortable. It comes with car seat for all children.
He is a tremendously professional and extremely knowledgeable guide. He provided us a fabulous pictures of Icelandic history as well as nearly all the places with fascinating geology, the wonderful scenery.
The accommodation is comfortable and baby cot is provided for infant. Most of the host of the guesthouse is very friendly too.
Breakfast were buffet style. The food provided for dinner to us is fish or chicken, which could discuss with Jens earlier so that arrangement could be made, sometimes come with desserts. In the hotel VOS, their desert is really delicious. Overall, all the food is good.
Jens would stop along the way and guide us to some delicious places to grab lunch.
I would highly recommend this tour.

This was a brilliant 10 day FUN tour with local man Jens as our great driver, as well as a terrific planner and co-ordinator. Jens’ knowledge of Iceland, both historic and geological, was fantastic and he was able to give our lovely group of six passengers just enough information so we were not overloaded. His reading of an Icelandic fairy tale was looked forward to each day.
Being in a small bus, Jens was able to take us to scenic places (and waterfalls) that the full size tourist buses could not go. Each lunch stop, Jens would check with our evening dinner venue, and would be able to tell us what the evening meal would be and what we could expect with the local catch of the day or regional speciality. Each day a local dish and never 2 days the same, wonderful!!
The accommodation chosen by Jens were all ‘farm stays’ or small guesthouses, all very clean, cosy and comfortable. Breakfasts were also very well done with plenty to choose from and to cater for all tastes.
We were just blown away by the fabulous scenery of Iceland and seeing the Northern lights on one occasion was icing on the cake.
We could not fault Jens in any way, not that we were looking for faults, this was a fabulous tour, very highly recommended and would readily do it all again.

We booked a 11 days trip with Fun Travel to do a round island tour including the West fjords.

Pre-booking: (4.5 stars)
Jens is very prompt in replying to emails and queries. Even when he is touring, he will bring his laptop along to check his emails every morning. The reply, on average, is less than 48 hours. He is happy to answer questions and to make arrangements to cater to your interests.

Pricing: (4.5stars)
One of the most reasonable around. I have obtained quotation from almost all tour agency in tripadvisor. None gave me a more reasonable pricing than Jens. There was one day where we experienced gale and was unable to do a boat tour at jokullsarlon. He took initiative to offer a reduction of our tour fee. We really appreciate his honesty.

Itinerary: (4 stars)
I would say that we truly enjoyed the itinerary. South, South East and North of Iceland was great. Although Jens seldom did tours on the west fjords, he took time to find interesting places. However, I did feel that there was too much driving and too little to see at the west fjords. (We have 3 days in the west) . Maybe it was because the south was so amazing and filled with picturesque sceneries and activities. This is a personal opinion though. The west was different though. Snaefellness was quite enjoyable and scenic.

Guide: (3.5 stars- basic guiding)
Jens was both our driver and guide. He is man with few words. Before we start off our day, he would tell us briefly on the places that we would visit for the day. Before we arrive on the destination, he would again give us a brief introduction on the places. Thereafter, you would have to take initiative to ask questions. Of course, he would be glad to answer your queries. I did learn a lot about Iceland through our dinner conversation. Most of which was my questions on Iceland. So if you are talkative, curious, inquisitive and have a list of questions like me, then you would have no problem with Jens. :)

Driving: (4 stars)
Jens is a careful driver who takes notice of his environment and looks ahead of traffic. We felt safe even when he's driving the toughest road. He is familiar with the roads in Iceland. The only thing that he can improve on will be the familiarity of road with the west fjords which is understandable as he does not do this part of Iceland often. The vehicle he used is a bit old but it was comfortable and acceptable. We did not mind as the price is reasonable.

Accommodation + food (5 stars - exceed expectations)
We requested for basic accommodation with private bathrooms. Most of the places we stayed are farm stays and private apartment. All in good condition and some relatively new. The service is personalised and I would definitely recommend booking dinner with Jens. The meals are exceptionally good. To me, the additional amount that I have paid Jens to include the dinner was he most well spent and a bang for my buck.

Overall, Jens is a trustworthy person who you can trust to book your trip to Iceland with. I would definitely book with him again.

Thanks Jens!

This tour, with Jens as our tour guide, was absolutely a trip of a lifetime. He took us "off-roading" in the van, to allow us to see and experience some of the most beautiful geological features Iceland has to offer. The weather was very nice during our trip, with the exception of one day. Rain nor wind keep any activities Jens had planned from happening. There was a bit more hiking than our group anticipated, but we all managed just fine. Walking sticks might have been a nice item to have on some excursions. The accommodations and delicious pre-planned meals were very enjoyable after a long travel day. Our small group made the trip even more fun, nice to get to know the others. I would definitely recommend this tour. Jens has an endless amount of knowledge about Iceland to share. The price was also exceptional compared to other tours we considered.

During the first week of August, my friend and I took the Iceland Complete Tour with Jens Olafsson from Fun Travel. In the comfortable van, Jens drove the small group, we all agreed a plus, to varied and interesting places around the island. A knowledgeable and careful driver, he anticipated our need to take frequent breaks and made us aware of any issues we might encounter. Occasionally, Jens would read to us an Icelandic folktale.

With cameras in hand, we started with key city sites. After this, we began our travels, experiencing many breathtaking wonders of nature such as glaciers, miles of old lava, an active volcano, and many magnificent waterfalls. Art was abundant, giving us a museum on the go. We also observed the evolution of the architecture: turf covered houses to contemporary high-rises in Reykjavik.

Accommodations were good as a whole. Two guest houses were fair, others very good, and the last one, a hotel in Reykjavik, was excellent. The food was always well prepared and delicious. It was too early in the season to see the Northern Lights. However, the weather was wonderful; but we were glad we packed a protective jacket, and a hat. I do wish I had taken my hiking stick.
Traveling rewards and engages the mind. My friend and I were glad we chose this interesting and memorable tour.

When my travel buddies asked if we wanted to take this tour of Iceland, I thought we were booking the usual stop-jump out, photo op that would race around the island and offer junk food every night. What a surprise! We spent thirteen days of hiking to falls, cliffs, glaciers, volcanoes and fjords. One day, we covered around 10 miles, so being in some kind of shape is a requisite for this tour unless you wish to sit in the van, waiting. The stops were often to less-visited start points for the walks.

Jens never rushed us and the the small group (we were only 10, 12 is max) facilitates more scenic visits since it doesn't take 5 minutes to unload and load as it would with a 50 person bus. we always had ample time to explore and take photos.

Note that some hikes were strenuous with changes is elevation and/or difficult footing - bring hiking poles if not steady. Also note that Jens doesn't stop for weather; rain and high winds are part of the experience.

A tip: when Jens exchanges his sandals for his hiking boots, expect some huffing and puffing. Each destination was beautiful - but it would be hard to find a spot on this island that isn't.

Accommodations are European, small, efficient and clean. Usually, the hotels were privately owned and the owners and their families were often the staff and servers. The locations were often remote, no throngs of tourists milling about; difficult anyway when there are no streets. Enjoy dinner and get to bed because the next day begins early.

The dinners were all quality restaurant fare, always delicious, always Icelandic lamb or local, fresh caught fish. The breakfasts were usually standard continental with some pleasant exceptions (yes, my wife grabbed most of the semi-soft boiled goose eggs before the other travelers arrived).

We will visit again, using Fun Travel Tours of Iceland, when we expect to need crampons to visit the falls!

A wonderful time to go to Iceland, and I highly recommend Fun Travel to it for you. Jens was a great driver, in whom we had every confidence especially in icy conditions. The accommodation was good, although a double room would have been nice, as we had twin beds the whole time, with the exception of the first night at Hotel Klettur. Although when we returned to this hotel at the completion of our tour, the room was very poor and not as spacious and was quite shabby. The other guesthouses and farm stays were varied and comfortable. The breakfasts and dinners were always good and the options for coffee stops and lunch was also adequate. We were able to stop at one liquor store, which helped our budget, as Iceland is an expensive place to visit. Jens gave great commentary and we never felt bored or overloaded with the information. The sights we saw were sensational. The inclusions on this tour made the trip even more enjoyable. It was a small group, with only our family of 4 (Couple and 2 adult offspring). Most tours wouldn't offer a tour unless the bus was full, but this was one of reasons we chose Fun Travel, we could plan ahead, knowing the that tour was going, despite the small number. We were lucky enough to see the Northern lights on 2 occasions. It got very cold and we had to walk on icy tracks. Consider buying crampons if you go in winter. They would have been a good investment for us, as we did a bit of slipping and sliding on some walks. All of which were well worth the struggle, as the scenery at the end of these tracks was breathtaking. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed this tour and I can't speak more highly of Jens and his commitment to his clients.
