Can’t recommend this experience with Hedinn enough! The snorkelling is in such a unique spot and was like another world under the water, when above ground it was snowing. We were so well looked after by Hedinn who shared a lot of his knowledge about the area and his experiences diving. Plus, he was the only guide with dry gloves as well as a dry suit! Great hot chocolate and great chat.

If you are an Iceland, this is a must-do experience! It was phenomenal. Hedinn was a perfect host, easy communication and meetup. We stayed warm the entire time. I was nervous before arriving as I am very clausterphobic but was instantly relieved once I arrived.
10/10 experience. I couldn't recommend it more!

So fun omg. Literally the best thing we did in Iceland. It felt like I was on a cloud or in space. IF you go on a trip to Iceland, you need to do this. There's a reason why there isn't a single bad review, it's amazing!

A once in a lifetime experience, you have to do this if you visit Iceland. You are provided with all the equipment required to stay warm and not feel the cold. This allows you to focus on the breathtaking scenery of Silfra. Hedinn was a very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming guide. An awesome time- get booking!

A fantastic experience of diving in such a clear, safe, transparent and …cold water 🥶! Heiodin is a super dive instructor, certainly the most friendly amongst the all companies standing there ! Many thank and bravo for your perfect equipment !!!

Diving the SIlfra Fissue is quite the experience. The group we tried at first canceled us at the last minute. DIving Island stepped in got us dry suit certified and took us on the dive.

This was an amazing experience. Our host was welcoming, very well experienced, helpful & pleasant to be around. His kit was perfect, including a lovely thermal onsie & then dry suit. Having waterproof gloves was a nice touch too. All the equipment was in good, clean order. We had everything explained to us & he checked we were OK with everything before setting off. A lady in another group had an accident & he ran to assist her. While in the water, we had plenty of time to explore & by the afternoon, we had an been emailed a link to over 100 photos of our group. The water is beautiful & clear & it is an experience not to be missed. Would 100% reccomend to anyone

Hedinn is patient and thoughtful guide. He prepared equipment and helped us put on gear well.
Great view underwater though it was a short swimming path it worth doing it once if you visit Iceland !

Our best decision in Iceland is to do snorkeling with Hedinn in Silfra. Great gear and service. Snorkeling with a small group of people (5 people) made a better experience. He did not only share the snorkeling and free diving experience but also some tips of traveling /driving in Iceland with us. I would highly recommend to anyone who is considering to take this activity.

Hefinn was so good. He took care of the small group (4 pax) carefully. Thats what this tour interesting cos there werent many people in the group. One of the best experience in Iceland 😁

We have a trip planned for mid August. My friend and I are not swimmers but would love to experience snorkeling in Iceland. Is it necessary to know swimming for this activity is it safe for people who are not well versed with water

Hi, due to the temperature there, most people wear a dry suit to dive and snorkel, which can be rather bulky. When diving the air supply from your tank is also plugged into your dry suit, this enables you to control your buoyancy throughout your dive. However, you won't have a tank as you're snorkeling but I think you'd get to wear some form of buoyancy aid.
I would advise you to contact Dive Island to answer this question safely. Both Einar and Hedinn are wonderful instructors and will take great care of you before and during your adventure.
I know that the regulations for diving are strict(ish) for diving but I'm not certain how and what is applied for snorkeling. Email them your concerns and they will advise you accordingly. I hope you get to snorkel there as it is a wonderful place and an amazing experience. Good luck🍀👍
Is there a maximum age restriction
Dear Janice.
There is no maximum age restriction but all people over 60 years old need to be signed off by a doctor. We have a medical statement that we send to our guests that they have to use.
Is there an age restriction for snorkeling Silfra? My daughter will be a few days short of 12 years when we are there - will she be able to participate?

Thank you for the question. At our company there is a 14 years age limit to do a snorkel in Silfra.
The Silfra snorkel tour is not the easiest of outdoor activities you can choose here in Iceland and it does require physical fitness and a good mentality for being in the cold water for 25-30 minutes.
I have seen kids down to the age of 12 manage this fine and I have also seen kids this age that did not manage this so well and did not enjoy the tour.

We do the course in one day. The course itself is 3 dives in total, 1 in confined water and 2 in open water.

We are advanced open water certified, but do not have dry suit certification. Would we be able to dive in Sifra without it?

No sorry it is mandatory now. You could take the dry suit certification before you come. Our company also offer a dry suit course if you are interested. If not we could take you snorkelling in Silfra or take you diving in a different location where you don´t need the dry suit certification.
