Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

if you ever been, in Trikala, do not forget to visit the mosque and the whole complex with the Ottoman baths, where you are also housed the Tsitsani Museum.
Mosque its self is not something special but it works as archaeological museum.

Art of the east, deep knowledge of engineering, not yet valued as deserved from the west, but yet well studied as well as presented from the city of Trikala!

A beautiful Ottoman architectural site that was redeveloped in a glorious way! Definitely worths a visit! This Mosque was named Koursoum due to its dome, as koursoum in Turkish means heavy. Worths a visit as it has a beautiful Mihrab and was designed from Mimar Koca Sinan, most celebrated of all Ottoman architects, whose ideas, perfected in the construction of mosques and other buildings, served as the basic themes for virtually all later Turkish religious and civic architecture. His three most famous works are the Şehzade Mosque and the Mosque of Süleyman I the Magnificent, both of which are in Constantinople (Istanbul), and the Selim Mosque at Edirne. Go there and snap some shots. It is one of the most well saved Ottoman site in Europe.

The most interesting in this story is the mosque was designed by Sinan Aga, who was born a Christian. Its architectural style is heavily influenced by Constantinople St. Sophia Cathedral. Sinan is one of the most significant architects of the Ottoman Empire, but here erroneously claimed that he had made and the Blue Mosque in Constantinople.
About the mosque - besides the interesting architecture outside there's nothing else to say. Koursoum (Turkish) means lead, plumbum. The dome is covered with lead. Many mosques have the same name.

Not just an old Mosque but also a museum of locally found artefacts and a history of Ancient Greek inventions with models from designs by Archimedes and his contempories.

The museum curators are very helpful and informed helping to make any visit interesting for their visitors. Well worth the hour or so it takes to explore.

I visited Trikala few times (my photos are from last year summertime). The Koursoum Mosque is an important architectural monument of the town. The building itself demonstrate the importance that this place used to have during the Ottoman Empire. It worth to stop and pay a visit.
