Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Imaret is not only the most unique place of Kavala but also a luxurious hotel. They offer tours every hour from 10:00 to 15:30 and the ticket cost €8 but it's worth more. The guide was perfect and tell us a lot of thinks about the history of the hotel.

Imaret is the most luxurious hotel of Kavala and it also has historical value. They offer tours every few hours for tourists and locals to get a sneak peak of the architecture. There’s also an upscale coffee shop/restaurant inside that you can visit.

The Kavala Imaret contains a total of two medreses (seminaries), two dershane-mescit (large domed prayer rooms), a maktab (an elementary school for boys), an Imaret (soup kitchen and home for the poor regardless of religion) and the offices of the management.
From the end of 1922 the spaces of the Imaret were used to house refugees. Later, it was converted into a museum, cafeteria and restaurant. In 2001, the Egyptian state gave it to a private entrepreneur so it could be fully restored and converted into a luxury hotel.

We had a fabulous dining experience at the Imaret last night. The food was excellent and the service was exceptional!! This restaurant is for fine dining so if you're looking for a Greek taverna experience, this is not the place to go. The city of Kavala shines brilliantly from their walk out windows onto their patio. It's a lot pricier than going to your typical taverna, but it seemed reasonably priced for a good restaurant under Canadian standards.

Their menu selection changes every few weeks so that it stays interesting. The wine recommended by the waiter was a Greek wine from Drama and it was wonderful! Hotel looks beautiful with old world charm and the dining is excellent!!

Would highly recommend this restaurant!!

We did not stay here but you can take a tour of the building. The entrance for the tour is one door along from the entrance to the hotel and costs 5 euros per person. We were the only ones on the tour on the day we arrived. Our guide spoke excellent English and the tour lasted about an hour. It's a beautiful building with a very interesting history and you get some lovely views over the harbour.
