Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A place to visit until 15:00. The house had a lot of corners which are from the year of the construction. The ticket was €5 and the tour guide knows a lot of information and they will give shoes protection for the upper level. There is a cafe under the trees in the garden of Mohamed Ali's house but due to the covid period is closed.

A lot of people confuse the house with Mohammad Ali (the boxer), thinking that is his. Well Mahhamad Ali was Turkish leader through the Ottoman Empire years. The house is situated on a hill that offers stunning views. Rooms still have the original hardwood floor and pieces of fabric that back in the dates were color with blueberries and other fruits. There was a women's room, guard room, his personal room, etc. The house is two floors and really big yard. The museum has closed part of the yard that is not visible to tourists but you can peek a little through it and see some of the stunning views outside:) They even have lokum (traditional Turkish desert) as soon as you walk up upstairs. Definitely a must see while in Kavala. The museum opens at 10am.

Spirit of old Kavala from Ottoman times. Detailed info about years Muhammad Ali spent in Kavala and his life afterwards. Wonderful garden where you can take greek coffee and relax under the shadows of trees.

Mohammed Ali’s Residence is considered one of the most characteristic surviving examples of 18th-century Ottoman architecture in Greece. In its south section is the selamlik, containing the men’s quarters, where the men spent their days and worked, the pasha’s private room, and the reception areas for guests. In the north section is the harem, where the women’s quarters are located, the bath (hamam) and the “sofa”. The fitted wooden cupboards and fireplaces are particularly interesting decorative features.
In the Square named for Mohammed Ali (1769-1849), which is located in the Panagia peninsula, in the Old Town of Kavala, his residence and statue can be found.

All this around the same vincinity which is well preserved and takes you back to time how this beautiful ancient city have experienced the changes because of its location. If we look further down the staircase connecting both the church and house you will understand what i mean, simply breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea.

A well-preserved home of Mohammed Ali Pasha, ruler of Egypt, before he left Greece. The guide was very knowledgeable and provided information that was interesting and relevant. The video of his life is long enough to provide the necessary background but short enough not to be boring. The whole property is lovingly well-maintained and a pleasant surprise in the city. Wheelchair access has been thought of also. Definitely worth more than the 3 Euro entrance fee!
