About
The place where the bridge is built, is the narrowest point of the channel, and the water current can reach the speed of 15km (9 miles) per hour! It is really interesting to watch the reversion of flow direction that happens about every 6 hours. The...more

Call it crazy waters because for some hours of the day flowing one way and the rest of the day flowing the other way. Think it's by the tide. It's an interesting phenomenon to see.

Well, what is interesting about this bridge is a very strong current, running two ways during high and low tide and its opening to let ships through. During our stay in Evia we were three times here and saw only that strong current. Yes, it...More

Fascinating to see the strong floods of the tide go under the bridge and change in direction after some time. So take a break, a lunch or dinner, and have a look again.

The bridge over the sea arm separating Chalkida from the continent is one of the best places to watch the spectacular shifting currents going underneath. probably one of the most photographed spots in town.

We were lucky enough to see the bridge open for ships to pass through. It was amazing to watch small fish try to swim against the tide, only to be forced backwards till they turn and swim back the way they came.

Bridge of Halkida is a unique attraction as the tide phenomenon is not very often to find. The waters flow to each direction for 6 hours and then change direction to the other, creating the unique phenomenon of the tide. Is the point to be,...More

What's interesting about an old fashioned bridge you might ask? Well there are two things to be honest. Maybe three. Yes, three. The third one is - it has an art gallery underneath it. Two - the water current changes underneath it every few hours...More
