Great views from the town and surrounding area, giving an idea of the strategic location of the isthmus. 20 min walking distance from the bridge. At the top there is a small museum (much better than the one in the town center) which tells the...More

Great visit with friends! You can see all the city, the gulf and the sea. You can relax there and feel like an ancient observer!

The Karababa Castle provides lovely view of the city from on top of old walls, but that is not all it has to offer. In decent shape, the walls of this old fortress remind you that Greece's history is long and full of battles.

Approached from the mainland side up steps through pines. Well preserved castle with an interesting & well presented museum of Greek and ottoman artefacts. Spend an hour here happily browsing; then wander down to the unrelated but proximal cafe bar just below.

The museum exhibit columns, engraved marble + stones, graves and many more. Which gives you a good view of Chalcidis' history. A must do!
