With few visitors, I pretty much had this place to myself. Most of the site is open air so I’d recommend visiting on a rain-free day. There is a mix of restored structures as well as ruins. The views overlooking the lake and surrounding mountains...More

The caslte is well kept, there are two very interesting museums operating in it, as well as a cute coffee house. The view of the lake is majestic!

One of my favourite place to hang out when I was there. It was really quiet inside at the time of the year I visited. The architecture is amazing.

Take 30 minutes during your twilight walk to explore the narrow streets of Ioanina's castle. The winding allies make you feel like it's the 19th century and you'll be rewarded with a lake view at its end.

Its a nice walk and adds a lot about the history of this region. There is much more to it than that meets the eyes.
