60 metres deep, the locals say it is bottomless! We were lucky enough to be here for the Greek Orthodox Easter and saw the effigy of Judas being burnt on a raft in the middle of this lake surrounded all around by fireworks going off...More

The ‘lake’ is really an inlet of the sea with the narrow connection to the sea bridged by the road. Many restaurants on the two sides at sea level and a few on high overlooking the lake and sea beyond.

This lake is the heart of Agios Nikolaos and everything is happening around it. There are lots of taverns and souvenir shops, as well as folk shows during the evening. If you arrive at Agios Nikolaos you will not lose the safe place. Enjoy!

Lovely area with lots of bars and restaurants around the lake. Nice for a stroll in the evenings under clear skies Writing about it reminded me of the lovely time we had and makes me smile

Just for walking around. Lined with restaurants. Not much to do but pay to eat. I suppose people watching is interesting.

I've been there at the beginning of November. Even if it's not the high season this place was full of life and energy. Don't miss the chance to walk around the shops, the cafes and restaurants!

Actually it's only 64 meters deep but there are plenty of fish, and the setting is definitely quite photogenic, both at night and day. And there are various cafes, and restaurants and bars to entice the visitor, and plenty of friendly enticers trying hard to...More

The view around here is pretty, although the walk from the bus station is a bit ugly and dirty! When you reach the lake it has lots of places to eat surrounding it and there are a good selection of shops in the streets behind....More

Hi Dorothy If I come and don't hire a car we use the local bus from the airport to Agios Nikolaos, it's a fantastic service and great value €7.70 each way. It is like a tour bus not a local service bus. Hersonisos is about... More
