Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the best experiences of my life. The place was beautiful and our guide Valia really made us travel back in ancient Greece through her stories about how the children were having fun back then. Our kids really enjoyed the whole experience and if we had the chance we would do it again!

….. in the centre of Athens. Amazing setting with a fully reconstructed hall on the legt hand side of the entrance and the Hephaistos temple on top of a smaller hill to the right. Extensive grounds. Walking them can be a bit complicated during hot summer time.

Due to Covid restrictions I had to take the online workshop instead of the live one. I have never seen such amount of interaction online! Now I understand why they call it workshop.. Being a proud online courses addict, and I took the whole series of online courses for ancient Greece: democracy, philosophy, medicine and of course the ‘’walkind dead’’ one! All 4 courses were well organized (started on time, my group was small about 8-11 people, well-planned, with engaging materials). Instructors were extremely professional and experienced but also helpful and passionate. They provided great insights and knowledge, answered all questions, and brought ancient greece to today with interesting case studies. I will not say which one I liked most, I believe one must take them all so that he gets the most of the experience. I can say that democracy course was the most eye-opener, philosophy one was the most practical (surprisingly!), medicine one provided a wealth of knowledge and the walking dead was the course that really made me think over my current perceptions. The highlight was definitely the interaction, as we had to see and talk to each other and share opinions, beliefs and elaborate case studies. Overall it exceeded my expectations for an online experience and well worth the money! When covid is over I will definitely join the live workshops of Hellas Revival as well!

Thank you so much for your detailed wonderful review Gillian! None of the courses would be the same without your active participation! I hope we have the opportunity to see you in our live workshops as well!

It was very basic, didn't talk much about history and just dealt with the allegory of the cave for most of the tour

Thank you for your feedback and for your active participation during the workshop! We are very sorry that you were dissapointed. Our workshop is, as you very well said, a philosophical quest elaborating the Allegory of the Cave; a basic philosophy workshop suitable for everyone. We clearly describe this in the ''overview'' and ''what to expect''. It is not a tour of the place, and we declare this in the ''what's included''. Our aim is to offer the authentic experience of philosophizing at the place where Plato taught; we trust you had the opportunity to experience this, and we will be glad to join us again in some other workshop/activity.

It was time someone to find a different way to teach history and philosophy. My wife and I arranged a half day private experience. I say experience and not tour, because it is clearly not a tour. We first had the democracy workshop on Pnyx and then the philosophy one at Aristotle’s Lyceum. Both were well organized and the entire experience was joyful, educational and very very very interactive. It was more like a session, held by a professional, where we fully participated and actually did what the ancients used to do. We voted, debated, read phrases in ancient greek (yes!), even discussed matters of our everyday life and understood the aristotelic point of view. We used an ancient watertimer and a real ostrakon to vote, which we got home as souvenir. It was inspiring and definitely put us in the shoes of an ancient Athenian. Do it, do it, do it!

I participated to this activity with my partner, while we travelled Greece. As I come from Greece, I wanted to do something different with him and engage him with ancient Greek culture. He really enjoyed it and learned a lot, Valia, our guide was really friendly and we learnt a lot from her. Although I have been to Athens before that was a unique experience to get out of my comfort zone and try something new.

I visited Athens with my family in November. We attended the workshop with my little boys aged 5 and 8. They loved our guide Valia who answered all of our questions and made us feel so welcome!!! The workshop was amazing and we learned many things about childhood, education and Ancient Greek games. It was very interesting and entertaining both for adults and my little ones. We felt that we actively participated and our kids still play they games we learned. It is totally worthy to attend this workshop and have fun with your kids!!!!

I really enjoyed this day of adventure led by Valia. I visited it with my boyfriend as we wanted to do something relaxing but at the same time cultural; learn about ancient Greece. I would have never thought that learning would be such fun! I recommend it to everyone.

I visited Athens for a few days and i decided to join this experience with my nephews! It was a great opportunity for me to have some time with family! I was impressed by Valia! She was joyful and patient when everyone asked questions and she was more than willing to help us understand the philosophy of ancien Greeks just by playing and having fun! If i ever come back i will definitely retry this cause my nephews and I enjoyed it a lot!

In January I had the best experience ever! I went at the National Garden with my family. There my children learned a lot about Ancient Greece and we played together Ancient Greek games! They were excited and they learned history while playing. Our facilitator was adorable and my children loved her. If I had the opportunity to do it again, I would definitely do it!
