This is very good metro system. It is bit confusing in first encounter but don’t be frustrated. The tickets are cheap and if you lost people at the stops are willing to help and we have seen sereval metro staff at the stops explaining things...More

Very nice , clean and efficient. A bit hard to buy the tickets if you aren’t fluent in Spanish, but a nice lady who works there helped. Once on the train it was easy to find your stops.

We arrived at Porto Airport and managed to obtain a 'through ticket' from the airport to our hotel, from an information desk in the airport. This was one ticket each which entitled us to use the metro and bus within a given timeframe. This worked...More

Our flight to Porto has been delayed, so we reached the metro station shortly before midnight. Luckily the metro serving airport has 2 departures also after midnight.

The metro is good: clean, drives frequently. But it takes a few days to understand how that system works. The system is absolutely not efficient. We payed a few times too much. And then the huge queues! What a disaster!

Cheap, clean, regular service which I’m ashamed to say beats parts of London Underground hands down.

Yesterday while visiting Porto took the metro to local stations. Trains clean, efficient, frequent and well guarded. Inspectors highly visible on each train trip, checking for travellers with validated current tickets, and issuing fines or warnings. Buying the ticket was a little complicated but we...More

It is fairly complicated to buy a ticket for the metro. Luckily there are assistents at the vending machine for tickets. Translation in English seems a bit weird. You have to choose 1, 2, 5 or 10 TITLES, by which they mean days... so a...More

Agree about the pass. Can also use trams and buses. Combine it with museums etc.

it depends on the zone. first you must by a card (0.60 euro if i remember well) and you refill it each time you use the metro! i used metro for long distances (airport) and i walk to see as more as buildings and sightseeings!

AT the metro station, we grabbed the pamphlet with the schedule on it. We tucked it in our backpack for reference. You should be able to get the info there or on the website. Good luck!
