We had a fantastic half day tour with our driver Pedro, who was knowledgeable, friendly and great company. We loved the opportunity to cover a lot of ground and culture and history in Porto in a short time, paired with the opportunity to get to know a local and learn more about local life in Porto. Pedro was helpful, funny, and a great driver also! The car was super clean, newer and very comfortable.

On short notice we were able to book a tour with Fernando of Clever Tours. We went to Guimaraes and Braga. We are glad we did. Fernando knows his stuff and is a nice person. He certainly showed us sights we would never have seen otherwise. His knowledge of the area is very thorough and we learned a great deal from him. As we are interested in this area of Portugal his tour was invaluable to us. We recommend him without hesitation.

Clevertours is an outstanding private auto tour company based out of Oporto that is steeped in the culture, people and history of Northern Portugal. Their driver/guides are experts in geography and human nature. They know where to go, when to drive and when to guide. They can find the finest wineries and the most out of way cafes, all in the same visit. They can aid you in finding the true culture of Portugal escorted by the most knowledgeable local guides. Churches, Synagogues, gardens and breathless panoramic views in the same afternoon.
But that is not the reason they deserve the five star rating. What makes the Staff of Clevertours so outstanding is their calm and caring ability to deal with the unexpected as if it were "a walk in the park". I suffered a medical emergency requiring hospitalization on the fourth day of our tour with them. They were able to find the medical care we needed. They guided us through the process of hospitalization in a compassionate way. Certainly that would have been enough to warrant the 5 stars. But it was not enough for them. They stayed in touch with my wife and i for the entirety of my hospital stay and made sure that we got home to New Jersey when i was able to leave the hospital.
Some people are good at the business of travel. Clevertours is surely that. Some people are passionate and compassionate in how they do business. For Clevertours their business is about people. We were fortunate enough to experience their brand of excellence. We cannot recommend them more highly. They are the BEST

It would not be possible to say enough about Bruno’s qualities in terms of knowledge on Portugal. We did the Douro day private tour with Bruno and loved every minute. He was also entertaining, fun, engaging and extremely accommodating. Five star plus. In addition, he has wide experience and knowledge in different areas of Portugal’s tourism, a constant source of conversation, information and pleasure. We would highly recommend Bruno for any future tours around Portugal.
He is a very competent, informed, helpful, knowledgeable... Excellent and well chosen!!!

While in Porto, we took a private tour of Guimaraes and Braga with Bruno. We had a wonderful time. Bruno is a knowledgeable tour guide with a nice personality and accommodating to our tour wishes. Both cities are beautiful and worth visiting with lots of history to learn. We highly recommend this tour company.

This was a comfortable small group tour. Our driver, Pedro, was friendly and informative. He took us to Aveiro, with its charming, unique resort area houses and canal ride through the town, first. I thought this was a good choice, with Coimbra coming after lunch. The boat tour was okay, but a bit disappointing. When we got to Coimbra, we were directed to an excellent restaurant and also had some time to walk around. However, we did not have enough time to explore the university area, which to my mind was the highlight of the trip. I would, however, recommend the tour.

We had a one day tour of Duoro Valley booked for us by Portugal Trails. It was excellent. Our guide / driver Joanna was great - full of knowledge but also gave her own opinions which added great colour to her descriptions, not like some who have the knowledge but deliver in a very dry way. She was also a very good driver

We used clever tours on recommendation of our travel agent. Our driver Pedros picked us up from the airport and took us on a drive to Amarante stopping along the way. He made excellent suggestions. He then took us to the Douro Valley the next day which was a great trip and well worth it. Finally he picked us up and took us to places in Porto the next day. It was so easy and the van was great for travelling. Highly recommend using this tour company.

My husband and I visited Porto and Douro Valley for the first time along with our friends in mid April 2017. We stayed at Casa da Calcada in Amarante and through them were connected to Tiago from Clever Tours. Ahead of our arrival, he helped customize our day of port tasting to fit our exact needs! He then personally picked us up and chauffeured us around Douro valley where we went to 3 separate quintas and had a wonderful lunch. We had an amazing experience! Tiago was incredibly friendly and informative about almost any topic. The quintas chosen where beautiful and the day was seamless because of Clever Tours. We are eternally grateful to Tiago for such a wonderful and memorable experience!

Bruno and his team lead us through Porto for 1/2 a day tour. Their insight and knowledge made the day over the top. The following Saturday, Bruno meet us in Vidago. He spent the entire day touring and sharing stories about northern Portugal and the Duro Valley. His compassion for the culture is addicting.
