Book a tour from Porto to the Douro River Valley. It is a long drive to rent a car, so a guide allows you to focus on the view and most were affordable. Ours came with a picnic lunch, other go to the local restaurants....More

Porto River Duoro waterfront and the castle with the old trams tracks embeded in the road is more interesting and pretty than you would expect. My advice is to go after sunset when you can get some amazing pictures and walk along outside, but the...More

Douro is a must if you go to Porto. There are tours on boat and tours on the road that go all the way to vineyards. If you want to get a sense of Portuguese landscape. Go to douro and tour around it.

The Rio Douro is a significant river and much wider than I had expected. I now appreciate why there are river cruises on the river. It is very much a working river with a lot of activity with boats passing with great frequency. Take a...More

The riverfront of Duoro river in Porto is very charming both by the day as well as night - one can see the illumination on both sides of the river. We can also see the port wine manufacturers whose products we buy at duty free...More

The pictures do not prepare you for the verticality of the Douro valley. It is spectacular, and there are a lot of activities to do but my favorite is to climb up to the bridge and watch the river go by.

There's a railway lone that follows the Douro from Porto for a long way. If we go back that's what we will do, it looks stunning. Stay in Pinhao and move out form there. What a lovely holiday to plan
