Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Pedro gave an amazing and informative tour. Highly enjoyable, and we left with an interesting and different perspective on the city would recommend any tourists take the tour.

We are moving to Porto in May, 2024, and this was our first visit to the beautiful city.
We have had excellent private tours with guides in many places we have been, and on 6 December we had the great pleasure of walking the streets with Pedro.
His passion and enthusiasm for Porto were exceptional and very easy to see. He has an incredible background of knowledge about the city’s history and culture and showed us some sights we probably would not have gotten on a larger tour, such as the “islands” behind some of the streets full of bourgeois houses.
The pace of this tour was ideal for us; we did not ever feel rushed or bored out of our minds, as we have on some tours. On a cold day, Pedro’s inclusion of an architecturally significant coffee house was well chosen and very much appreciated.
We would recommend Pedro to any visitor to Porto who wants a good look at the fabric of the city, its customs and stories.

My partner found this tour and we booked it for the next day, 10/30.
We met our guide, Pedro, in a park. His exuberance was immediately evident, contagious, and persisted for our 3+ hour walk through Porto.
We saw so many interesting examples of art deco architecture, architecture from the 40s through the 90s, public housing, industrial ruins, and more. Pedro is a font of information: architecture and it's history in Portugal, Porto's history of urban development, and social history.
We learned about influences on the ity from UK, Italy, Moracco, and Brazil. It was an amazing view of the city, off the beaten -- and tourist-swarmed -- path. Highly recommended!

The Worst Tour is the BEST Tour! Socio-political tour of "the other side" of Porto, with insights from a architect that explained how Porto came to be the way it is. The "islands", a/k/a small neighborhoods within the City, the now desirable cliff side lots that were once only deemed habitation for the poor, the attempts to build public housing, the reason tile is ubiquitous on building fronts in Porto (weatherproofing) and what it means when a building doesn't use tile. Great stuff, not just "some King lived here and built a fancy schmancy palace".

My wife and I had an amazing time.
We were lucky to learn about Porto’s politics, geography, and architecture from the best guide!
Pedro is charming, knowledgeable, and overall a great tour guide.
Do yourself a favor and book this tour that gives you a chance to see a special part of the city with a friendly, smart, and funny local guide.

Pedro was charming, funny and knowledgeable! Best walking tour ever. If you were interested in learning about architecture and social issues. This tour is for you! It’s especially great that you see parts of town outside of the normal tourist attractions.

An outstanding alternative, historical, architectural, perspective of the city. Reminds you that different narratives of the city can more charmingly imperfect than the façade that travel bureaus want you to see. Not for everyone, but perfect for those looking to challenge their understanding a bit and open their minds.

Is this tour suitable for going with a toddle?

It would be fine if the toddler is in a buggy. If not it would be too much walking for a toddler. There is also a lot of standing around whilst talking and would be annoying for the rest of the group if there was a toddler who was unsettled.

Thanks for your great review! How much did you pay for the tour per person? I know paying is "optional." Best, Robin

Hi Robin,
We were a group of four and I paid €50 for our tour. Our guide, Gui, said that it was too much but I thought it was reasonable. Our tour was eye-opening and we were happy to support a group of devoted professionals who are clearly passionate about their city. Similar walking tours seem to average €19 per person.
Enjoy, John
