Over a hundred years old and working well. A smooth and fun ascent from the river up to the old area of Porto. Saved walking up the hill on a hot day.

This is another good way to get an amazing view of the city and riverside, it also avoids all the steps. It is reasonable and worth purchasing the return ticket if you intend to return this way as you will save money

We were really tired and faced the upward stairs to emerge from riverbank. Luckily this "Funicular" was nearby and for 2,5 Euro we skipped the stairs and the view was amazing.

This funicular is in the shadow of the Ponte Infante Dom Henrique and provides a quick lift up to the main city. Very spectacular - steep following some old city walls.
