A very nice castle. It´s quite restored and prepared for tourists, you won´t find the decay of an abandoned castle in the country. There are wooden platforms with bannisters all around the place, so exploring the whole site won´t be any problem, except a few...More

The castle looks very pretty from the outside - the view gives the impression of a strong imposing castle on a hill - which it was in its heyday. Unfortunately, much of the inside is lost - one can walk the walls and have a...More

Beautiful castle, it a shame that is almost in ruins but the towers and was still remains is well preserved. Entrance is really cheap, like 2 euros and totally worth the visit. There videos inside explaining Portugal history.

The castle is beautiful and is one of the major attractions of Guimaraes, which is a charming town. The castle is remarkable, an unmissable visit.

We last visited in 2010 and were surprised by all the changes! Firstly, there is now an entrance fee but we can appreciate why this was added. Safety railings and walkways have been added; less scary for those of us who have issues with heights....More

we went to the castle in early evening and the castle itself was closed. However you can spend a long time going round the magnificient surroundings to enjoy the views.

One of the places which you must see in Guimaraes. Medieval castle, nice surrounding, small chapel near the castle and and very close to the city center.

I wouldn’t recommend entering as there’s nothing to see in particular. Walking inside with young kids or elders is to be taken with caution as the floor is irregular
