The Benedictine monastery of Tibães was the house mother of the monasteries of this order in Portugal and Brazil. We had a excellent scientific restoration with garndes farmland and gardens, with lakes, ponds and fountains.

a whole day it's not enough to visit and see all the beauties of this ancient Monastery. You will find history and will be able to enjoy the gardens and forest which surrounds the great Benedictine Monastery.

A must to visit, 5 kms away from Braga. This is an amazing monastery. It was the main house of the Benedictines in Portugal. In the last 25 years a remarkable restoration has been done and you can walk freely in the amazing cloisters full...More

It's old but beautiful. There is a big garden with a little lake. In the monastery you can visit the church and the building. Sometimes there are exhibitions.

Old Benedictine monastery that has now been restored. I advise a visit with time as the gardens are huge and very beautiful. One of my favorite parts was the virtues stairway, a set of stairways with fountains representing the seven virtues.

It is a very nice building with lots of history, and stories, but my favourite is the forest / garden! Many different trees and plants, lots of water, and the sculptures that look abandoned just add a great feeling of being lost in time. The...More

What a fabulous piece of christian history. You don't need to be a follower to visit this monument and find it interesting. Allow a couple of hours for your tour of this enormous cultural centre. The hotel and restaurant are excellent as well !
