We had our own personal tour as no one else there. So interesting and really quite an evocative place. The decorations are beautiful and the history is really interesting. Well worth a visit

We stumbled upon this by accident, and got a guided tour for 2€ per adult, which was a bargain. Such a beautiful spot, great guide, and lots of history of Madeira. Make sure to check when it is open.

We have visited many churches and monasteries but this was unique in showing us the nuns private chapels and chapter house and also the grille used to cut them off from the world. Our guide was interesting and quirky. Well worth the time.

A visit here is a must for all who visit Funchal, a great tour given showing us what life is like in the monastery and how it has changed over history. Great value visit too

First of all check out the opening times. They are closed for quite a long period over lunch. This place is very low key and you may think you are stepping into a kindergarten. Yes, there is one on the site. The tour is done...More
