We booked on the 48 hour 3 in1 tour. Did the Funchal tour the first afternoon. Next day went to Camara de Logos then caught the smaller bus up to Cabo Girao, what a view. Next day we caught the bus and got off near...More
We chose this tour over the usual red one we'd had elsewhere. The tour we selected included Camara Do Lobos and Cabo Girao. It was good value for money. You change onto a smaller bus at Camara Do Lobos to reach Cabo Girao on steep...More
We ended up buying tickets for this bus service. You can buy daily passes, or passes for several days. We enjoyed taking the busses, especially sitting up on top. They take you from Funchal and north to the tourist attraction of the fishing village and...More
Perhaps it was our mistake but we bought our Funchal tour ticket when there were two cruise ships in port totalling 6000 passengers. The Yellow bus ticket sellers happily kept on selling but the bus we took was full and stayed full. At some stops...More
Great fun and a good way to see the area with the ability to jump off the bus for a closer look at whatever interests you. We went on a second time (a ticket lasts a couple of days) and went to Camara de Lobos...More
Our hotel was not near the center but close to a Yellow Bus stop. It was a good way to get into the center, learning along the way. We thought we bought day tickets but it turned out we only paid for one day. We...More
We were able to catch the bus near to our hotel and started with a ride round Funchal, seeing so many sights from the top of the bus. We then changed buses near Pria Formosa and had a trip to Camara de Lobos, where we...More
Took us for a tour around Funchal. More music than description on headphones. Quite a patronising sketchy commentary I felt. Not impressed by speeding through dark tunnels. Not particularly interesting and all very average.

There are several stops within the cruise terminal area. The whole circuit takes about 75 minutes and busses run every half hour or so. You need to consider what fits in to your five hours. It is a good way to get a feel for the city and you will have time to stop in a few places. Stop 3 is Old Funchal and well worth spending some time. The cable cars get very busy when cruise ships are in town. The lines are long. If you really want to go to the Botanical Garden, there are cabs by the cable car and the driver dropped us at the top of the garden and we walked down where he picked us up an hour later. Another sight worth seeing if you like that kind of thing.
