It get's very crowded. Do not go off at the first stop. Wait til you're up by the palace, and see the other things on the way down. Otherwise, you won't come back on the bus.

When we went to Sintra we were caught by surprise! We imagined it a bit like Mont Martre in Paris or Bergamo in Italy - a hill with palaces that you can walk on. It is nothing like that! It is an actual mountain and...More

The 434 can be picked up outside the railway station. It is very popular with us daytrippers from Lisbon who have just got off the train. It was rammed and we stood all the way up to the Pena Palace - the bus navigates up...More

I had thought a loop ticket was 5 euros, but when I got on the bus was informed it was 3.90 for a one way ticket to the palace and 6.90 for a round trip ticket.
