At one time this was the summer palace for the royal family, but after the earthquake of 1755, it became their main palace. Three generations of kings lived in the palace. It is nicely restored with beautiful gardens and grounds. Definitely, worth a stop when...More

Interesting palace and attractive gardens. However we were not pleased to be told that you had to visit the palace before the gardens, and once in the gardens you are not allowed back into the palace. Staff were abrupt and unfriendly and didn't know how...More

This palace feels like it was kept exactly as it was left many years ago. There isn’t much else to do In queluz but it is very interesting to see if you like architecture and gardens. Stay at the pousada hotel across the street too!

What a great treasure which is not pushed so much but well worth the visit. Don't miss the gardens and the glasshouses.

The Palace is huge and there is clearly a large effort in restoration of both house and gardens. Very little information is available about history or lifestyle. I will return, but with a guide.

There's construction everywhere. No English translation on Museum label. No museum English speaking curator available.

We have seen so many palaces all over the world. This site does not disappoint. Lots of history speaks to you. We had a guide show us around. Quite much to take in at one time. Some restoration is going on. Go ahead and enjoy.

I think 2 hours is about right, that's about the amount of time we took to see both the Palace and the gardens.

P.S. I think you will find storing luggage anywhere in Europe is difficult because of the threat of bombs!
