Very well preserved and furnished Summer Palace of the Portuguese monarchs, only 15 minutes from Rossio station in Lisbon on the Sintra line then a 15 minute walk through a working class suburb which is interesting in itself. When you arrive at the Queluz station...More

While the attraction itself is splendid, the customer service is absolutely appalling. At 7,50 for seniors and 9 for adults, the prices are steep for Portugal's standards. Be advised that if you want a bite, the cafeteria is all the way at the end of...More

Well worth the visit. Located at about 30 minutes drive from Lisbon this beautiful palace has stunning rooms with perod furniture, porcelain, glassware and pictures which gives the visitor a clear idea of how the Portuguese Royals lived. The gardens are well kept and house...More

If going to the Palace you should definitely include seeing the gardens, even though some areas are still being renovated. Plenty of areas to stroll and see a number of interesting fountains, including the "canal".

Located opposite the Pousada we went on an English guided tour which was excellent. The interior could do with some renovation but it still enables one to marvel at the grandeur that the Dom lived in. The gardens are magnificent but sadly some areas in...More

Beautiful palace, best to go in the afternoon as they offer a weekday afternoon discount. Simply magical to wander around and a must see on a trip to Lisbon.

The palace is in disrepair in most every room. Mirrors are glazed, floors are fading and some areas under repair are not open to see. The gardens are massive but overgrown with weeds, fountains are black from mold and the area needs much landscaping. There...More

The gardens are lovely and can be visited without paying. You should pay to go into the palace because it is very beautiful but you will not want to skip the gardens.

They have mentioned that this is based on Versailles. It comes pretty close to that. Every corner sprigs a surprise. Allow plenty of time for both house and gardens, I didn't give myself anywhere near enough. You can work on the weather or sun. There...More
