Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful Architecture and cute city. You can walk around the walls and have a good view of the city from the top.
Top class ginginha (€1 to €1.5 per shot),
They also have some expensive local shops to sell to the tourists ( if you spend some time in Lisbon, you can find it cheaper)

Very small town, easy to walk, reasonable prices, many places do not accept card. We managed to eat in one that accepted and we were very well served.
There's not much different, but everything is very delicate.
It's worth a day walk.

Spent the morning here with my wife and two adult children and enjoyed every minute. I’m not one for browsing and window shopping but I enjoyed both activities here, eating well and purchasing cool memorabilia.
This fairy-tale town is much the same today as it was in 1282 when King Denis gave it to his Queen (the future St. Elizabeth) on their wedding day.
The walls of the city are still walkable, but the real beauty of the place is its white-washed homes with brightly painted trim on cobble stone streets - a photographers dream!

Obidos is a special place with a gorgeous atmosphere. We walked along the city walls to start with. It's not a walk for the fainthearted (there are no handrails to stop your fall) but the path is more than wide enough for one person walking along it. My advice is to hold on to the castle wall. It is worth the effort for the views out to Queen's Valley or over the rooftops of the town.
We then ambled along the cobbled streets, popping in and out of artisan shops oozing in creative works.
There is ample choice of places to eat and drink and lots of spaces to sit and rest and savour the Obidos air. The town gate has a lovely surprise in store when you reach it. An eclectic mix of busking awaits you. We witnessed an opera singer and a rock band during the two times we passed through the gate.
The only thing that looks stressful in this town is driving on its very narrow streets! Apart from that, Obidos will charm you much more than you might ever expect!

This really is a cute "toy" town. Very picturesque. Mostly full of touristy shops but worth a visit. The wall around the town is a marvel. High up and with no railing but you are free to walk around as much as you dare. I enjoyed it much more early in the day before it got crowded. If you are staying for dinner don't wait too late as there did not seem to be many options as it got later. Bring good shoes for the cobblestones!

Beautiful medieval village, very well maintained and very charming. Many neighbors are dressed in period clothes to give a touch of realism and the truth, they get it. It has a castle with a wall from which there are beautiful views of the region. It is worth making a stop if you go through the area.

A cute little quaint village behind walls. Many small souvenir shops, wine / liquor shops offering gingha (cherry liquor in a chocolate cup) shots for $1 euro. We climbed the rocks to get to the top of the wall and came down using the stone stairs. On top you get a wonderful view of the village and the farmland outside of the village.

Ancient town on the west coast dating back to the 13th century
Surrounded by walls that connect to the drawer
Internally colorful alleys bordered by many shops with typical products and floral arrangements

I visited on tour.
The scenery unified by white walls and red tiles is all about "beautiful".
The village area was small, and I was able to take a walk while understanding the whole area.
As of October 2024, it was possible to walk on the walls. From Santiago Church, turn east near "Ibn Eric Rex" on the main street "Direta Street" and go up the hill to the walled road. The walls were unfenced and "if you fall, you are responsible", but there were no difficult roads, and in just over half an hour, you could descend slowly just outside the "Porta de Villa" gate ("The way the earth walked / Portugal" was very useful).

This is our second time visiting Obidos Village. We enjoyed walking the castle walls and walking around the old town. It gets very crowded on weekends and when tour buses arrive, which took away from our enjoyment.

What group tour company were you traveling on during your stop in Obidos Portugal?
Written 25 February 2020
My husband and I traveled alone but used Taxi Obidos for the ride from Lisbon to Obidos, and then used his whole-day custom tour service to see Fatima, Nazareth and other nearby seaside towns. He was very knowledgeable, had a comfortable car, and customized it to our preferences. His name is Clif. I would readily use him again. taxisobidos

Are the azulejos that you see on the gates still under renovation as of summer 2019?
How crowded is the village on weekends around 4pm?

Yes unfortunately but hopefully the wait will be worth it

Anderson, vi seu comentário sobre o furto das malas no veículo. Estaremos de passagem por Óbidos e gostaria de saber onde estacionaram? No estacionamento publico... Sabe me informar se tem estacionamento privado q seja mais seguro?

Parking in Obidos? We are driving up from Lisbon. Is there a suggested spot to park?
Written 8 May 2018
There is a large parking lot as you approach the main gate to the town, can’t miss it. Pay from 9 am to 8 pm but free on weekends.
