This is a free site that exists under a bank not far from the Arch of Augustus and the Praca do Comercio. It's not well sign-posted but you will find it. There are English tours on Thursdays at 5 p,m, and on Saturdays. Seek this...More

I have seen lots of Roman Ruins (France, Italy, Turkey, etc). As Roman ruins go - these are truly mediocre. The interesting aspect of these is that they are under the city of Lisbon. Essentially you go into a bank building on a main street...More

Pre booking for the 3pm English tour meant going there in the morning, being sent around the corner to find the entrance and popping in. That gave time to go to the Roman Theatre, have a great coffee and lunch at Copenhagen Coffee Lab in...More

Didn’t actually see the ruins because apparently you need to reserve your spot ahead of time and we were turned away at the door saying they were all booked up for the rest of the day. It doesn’t state ANYWHERE on their website that you...More

A free tour of archeological remains below a functioning bank in Baixa district. Make sure to sign up before hand. Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke great English.

If you love archaeology, you can’t miss this place in Lisbon. You’ll be guided through centuries of history, and everything is free. Just book in advance as the tours may be all booked. The entrance is on this street but on the parallel one.

This was one of my favourite days during our visit to Lisbon. We booked our free tour for our family of five. Very informative and excellent guide.

Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site,
Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply
"Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake

earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its
name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in
Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the
