A fine looking column in the Rossio Plaza of Lisbon. You'll probably look at it twice, snap a picture and keep walking. Looks a lot like the "monumento aos restauradores" in a plaza next door

This is a lovely column, located in the middle of Rossio square. It's main purpose is basically to allow the local pigeons a place to rest on.

A column...beautiful but nothing out of common. There are hundreds similar columns around the world. Placed in the middle of Rossio square, also e regular square. Not a must see but worth 10 minutes to take a few photos.

Located at Lisbon's Rossio Square, the Column of Pedro IV of Portugal is in the middle of the square and cuts an imposing sight. You will invariably see it anyway from any of the surrounding streets from the Rossio Square but it’s worth going up...More

As other reviewers have commented the Portuguese live to commemorate fallen / famous heroes with large imposing statues in main squares. This is a particular impressive one.

Another impressive statue and the tiles around the square are very typical to Lisbon and Portugal. Good landmark for that section of the city.

It seems that when the Portuguese erect a monument they want to make sure that is more eye catching than any of the surrounding buildings.

A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site,
Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply

earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its
name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in
Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the
