One of the few marian pilgrimage site in the world. Nice place to pray. Lots of activities happening the whole day. Must partake in the procession at night.

A vast concourse leads to the shrine and a semicircular many-pillared colonnade encloses a large area in front of the Basilica where millions of pilgrims gather on special feast days and tourists visit throughout the year. The church itself is simple in design but embellished...More

We’ve spent several weeks traveling all over Europe seeking places with historic religious significance, and this is one of the most peaceful places we’ve been. Despite the large numbers of people who come here, it is still possible to find some space for quiet reflection,...More

The shrine is beautiful with modern stained glass windows and sculpture. Being a visitor not a pilgrim felt a bit lost, literally. Be sure to get a map from the information office because signage for the shrine complex and the houses of the children who...More

We went to the Shrine and I, personally, found the Shrine a great, peaceful place. I’ll definitely come back in the future.

This basilica represents the holiest place of Portugal, built in the place where three local children claim to have seen the Virgin Mary in 1917. Regardless of the faith of each one, this place conveys a sense of an inexplicable peace. On May 13, celebrations...More

A deeply spiritual and fantastic place. We were able to attend Sunday mass here for the Assumption of Mary. Words can't describe the intensity and beauty of the occasion. Fatima is easily accessible from the highway just over an hour from Lisbon.
