We first missed this beautiful building, despite arriving in Aveiro by train. We had a chance to see it, though, when we had time before catching our train to Porto. The building’s exterior features some of the most beautiful azulejo tiles we saw during our...More

The interesting part of this railway station is only the tiles on this building, nothing much. They blocked this building so we cannot enter to this old station.

It's worth the 10-minute walk from the town centre to see the tiled facade of Aveiro's station. It exemplifies the Portuguese love of story-telling with ceramic scenes on buildings. You'll rarely see better.

While you cannot get in, the building is fenced off, it's worth a quick look especially if you arrive by rail.

Although closed due to renovations, the exterior is enough to enjoy a lovely decoration with classic Portuguese blue tiles.

This is a very beautiful station! Love the beautifully designed tiles façade! Too bad we couldn’t go in and check the inside.
