Beautiful peaces of the Romans history in Portugal. Very well preserved with very nice mosaics. One drawback: if local people is not there to open the gates, you will not be able to see anything. Should exist a sign in the main road pointing to that.

The partially excavated remains of a Roman Villa just 10 km to the south west of Beja are well worth a visit. The Villa had over 40 rooms. The hypocaust and mosaics are well preserved. Check at the Tourist Information Office to check opening hours.

It's an easy walk from the Pousada de Sao Francisco. Good place to see views of the city & country side.
