Take some photos, although that might be hard to do as there are so many tourists around. We were here on a weekend so were unable to get inside.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 November 2023
- Kvothe74Horley, United Kingdom192 contributionsCity Hall Tour Very GoodGreat building to look at on the Grand Place. We also did the tour inside which we pre-booked which was a good idea as was full on the day. If you pre book go inside the building entrance in the courtyard as it starts inside. The tour was about an hour long, was informative and with humour. Would recommend.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 April 2024
- Gemma SPreston, United Kingdom19 contributionsBeautiful outside and insideWe went on a guided tour, it lasted an hour and cost approx 15 euros each. Tour group is small, the guide was fantastic, lovely and welcoming. The tour was very interesting, a good blend of past and present information about Brussels and the building itself. If you like history this is the tour for you.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 26 April 2024

- Jeanne HSingapore, Singapore224 contributionsWorth visiting with the audio guideThe visit includes a self-directed audio tour. It was pretty good in that for each room in the Town Hall, we could choose to read/hear about specific artefacts in the room. It also helped that some paintings were highlighted for us as they were not as clear in real life due to the dim lighting in the rooms. The tour took about 1 hour and 15 minutes.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 May 2024

Beautiful decor of the time period with French influence verify evident. Most tours are with an audio guide. There are also panaromic tours on certain days.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 July 2024

This old 15th Century Gothic Building is situated in Grand Place in Brussels. The architecture of the building is amazing, decorated with many statues all around it. The spire stands tall overlooking the square of Grand Place and during the time we were there it was extremely crowded with tourists. It is especially nice at night when everything is lit up. You can apparently take guided tours through the interior but we didn't do this. Just being outside and enjoying the square was enough for us.

The star attraction among the host of marvelous buildings surrounding the Grand Place. The Town Hall was built in the first half of the 15th century. It's unquestionably one of the most magnificent buildings in the world, constructed with elaborate detail, ornate statuary, and a graceful elegant 96-meter tall central tower. Hugely popular with photo-taking tourists; nearly impossible to get a photo without throngs of people photo-bombing your shots.

The Hotel de Ville is located right on the Grand Place in the heart of Brussels. We weren't able to tour inside, but the exterior is an impressive piece of architecture. The shiny golden statue of Michael (the patron saint of the city) on top of the tower, and you can see it from multiple places throughout the city. Definitely be sure to look for and admire this building when you're at the Grand Place.

Extremely disappointed.
The website is a nightmare to negotiate.
When you eventually get to the page it says booking is not required.
Turned up at the allotted time 2pm on Wednesday for the English tour to be told you have to pre-book and they only have 25 tickets available and all were sold out.
Complained that the website said booking not required, staff could not care less.

This is perhaps the most recognizable place in Brussels, and when you see it in person, you'll know why. It is amazing, huge and has so much to see. It is also surrounded by other beautiful and historic buildings and churches, and cafés, restaurants. You cannot miss it

This is probably the place to go to when tourists must choose a building at the Grand Place. Brussels' city hall is well in line with the city's grandeur and prominence. A truly impressive structure, it may need a guided tour for more information about the interior.

The Hôtel de Ville in Brussels complements an already-breathtaking main plaza square perfectly. It puts every town hall in the US, Canada, and most other countries to shame. There’s no point in writing further. Just see it. It’s obvious. I’m not being a lazy reviewer (kind of).

We will be coming in on the train from London. How far of a walk is this?
Mid February.
Thanks for any help.
Written 7 November 2019
The walk from Bruxelles-Central to Town Hall (Hotel de Ville) is about 500 meters and should take you about 5 minutes, if you are not dragging a carry on suitcase. If you are dragging a carry on, then it may take you 8 to 10 minutes. In mid February with snow on the sidewalks, plan for 10 minutes.

Gracias.
