Town Hall ( Stadhuis ) is one of the jewels in the crown in the historic Grote Markt. In a square with some amazing buildings this wonderful structure looks awesome. Constructed between 1561 and 1565 the Renaissance style of architecture looks magnificent and when illuminated...More

The Town Hall is the main square in Antwerp, very close by the main Cathedral, also hard to miss. The architecture is beautiful and in the center of the square you can see the Brabo Fountain, part of the history of the city.

Amongst the various town halls in western Europe that I have visited, Antwerp's is my favourite. The renaissance style building was completed in 1565 and rebuilt about 15 years later after it was burnt down by the Spanish. The Grote Markt square and the guildhall...More

Great meeting place (very centrally located) or place to just sit and people watch. Loved seeing all the flags on the building.

A nice section in the main square. Beautiful buildings and statues surround you, and give you that medieval feel of old Europe. Very well kept with lots of benches to sit and enjoy. I liked this place.

A nice place in Antwerp's center with many nice buildings following the Belgium style. In the center of the square you can see Brabo's statue which is nothing special compared to the total view. The location has many places to drink coffee, eat, etc.

Built in the middle 1500's, Antwerp's impressive Renaissance City Hall, decked out with an array of flags, sits proudly on the Grote Markt (Great Market Square). You can see both Flemish and Italian influences in the building's architecture. The beautiful Brabo fountain sits in front...More

There seems to be a lot of construction going on in Belgium including a lot of restoration. This was no exception as their was scaffolding & areas dug up by the town hall & Grote Markt. It would have looked interesting if not for that....More

The city hall is currently closed for renovation. A lot of old furniture, and architectural elements are being sold, so people in Antwerp are worried about the changes that are going to see in 2020 , and about the loss of historical elements inside the...More
