Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A truly beautiful church that is not now a fully functioning church but has been taken over by a civic society who have done (and are continuing to do) a marvellous job restoring the church, raising money by holding concerts and catering events in the church, as well as hiring it out for weddings.

This church has a large clock hanging outside, typical for churches in this area. It is one of the largest and oldest church in Hoorn. The church has a nice architecture and still in very good condition - it was restored back in 1970s.
This town of Hoorn was the home base for the Dutch East India Company back when Holland was the world leading country.

I've never seen a clock like the one outside the church. The way they hang the clock, it's an eye-catcher. The chucrch self was not open when we're there, on sunday afternoon. So, we passed the church and took some pictures.

Facade speaks of its antiquity, so my curiosity was ignited. I sent an email if we can to see the place. Graciously answered. Once inside, what a wow. High ceilings. Antique decors. The old organ on the wall lends beautifully as a background decor for any occasion. Enough space for table arrangement for at least 70 persons. Sound system is available. Portable stage can be mounted if needed. Catering can be arranged with them.Acoustic is good thus recitals & concerts are perfect here. Good venues for groups or organizations activities. Being in the center of a city, pay-parking is available till midnight around. There is a free parking by the lakeside, about 10 minutes walk. We did our activity here and for me, it was memorable evening !

It took us a few minutes to find the opening into this church. . . as it is through another building. It's worth a peek as it is serene and celebrates the sailing history of the region.

It's pretty much your typical old church found in Europe. It's worth a peek inside. This is a lovely town to wander around.

This is the big church on the square, a landmark one that you will see from all over town. A bit sober, but worth your time.

Beautiful (former) church that was rebuilt during the 19th century. No longer a church, so I guess that was the reason why it was not open.

In 1453 there was a Roman Catholic wooden chapel wich was replaced in 1519 by a stone&-brick structure;the beginning of the present Protestant church dating from 1616.Today a cultural centre for music performances this attractive 17th century building no longer has a religious function. As the Grote Kerk Hoorn was rebuild in the 19th century this is the oldest of the several churches in Hoorn.I enjoyed the historical architecture of the church,it has a white-washed interior.
