Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Must visit, the best walking distance in Amsterdam. Located between Dam Square and Central Station. The shopping center De Bijenkorf is located on this street and needs to be seen as well

Fabulous busy street with lots of atmosphere which runs from Amsterdam Centraal Station to Dam Square with its various attractions. Lots of shops, bars, restaurants on both sides.

This area is very crowded but it has a nice vibe and view, especially in the evening. Basilica of Saint Nicholas and the tower of The Oude Church looks beautiful from here.

We really enjoyed just walking around and getting lost in the city. The dams, the canals, the views and buildings. Very recommended

Beautiful area in Amsterdam, probably the first area to visit if you arrive from the main train station.
The architecture is nice and unique.

This is the main street that will take you from the Central Station to the center of the city. It is filled with many cafes, restaurants and other attractions. It can be extremely busy during the high season.

This is a major street that runs from Dam Square to the train station. We walked it many times.

Lots of shopping and dining options.

This also serves as a good place to start a canal tour by boat.

Damrak is the main route from Amsterdam Centraal station to Dam Square.

It is possible to ride on the tram but for the sake of one stop it is really not worth it. I would recommend you walk down the street and take in the many sights and sounds. You will probably smell the weed as you walk along too.

There are plenty of restaurants and tourist shops selling souvenirs if you want to get something for friends and family before you head for Schipol Airport or whichever other method of travel you are using.

The main street of Amsterdam, that has a lot going on, lots of shopping to be had, it is especially nice at night this time of year all lit up. It is home to dam square, an attraction in its own right as well as De Bijenkorf - department store and De Beurspassage - covered passageway to name a few.

Now that all of the renovations are complete, the Damrak is looking so good... It was wonderful to see it in this way. Been a long time coming, and now so worthwhile. A lovely walk from the station to Dam Square.
