Neighbourhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This artwork is actually a wind pointer. It is located in front of the "Scheepvaartmuseum" ( Shipping museum). At this moment you can't come closer to this artwork but you can see it from a distance. Nice object for some pictures.

Sadly the Kattenburgerplein square was under construction at the time of my visit, the square center an enclosed building materials storage space, and wouldn't you know it, the Sailing Man stands in the middle of the storage space :) Anyway it sticks out a bit above the fences qnd stacks, so I had a decent view of it and found that, as you walk around the sailor on his boat at sea, it shows different aspects, like in 3D art. Fascinating and expressive. Very nice work of art.
