Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great museum with a big collection and the current GIF exhibition is very interesting. We visited late in the afternoon during the week so it was quiet, however, it's very Corona proof: hand gel everywhere, mandatory face mask for adults and staff. The underwater safari is paid separately, it lasts only 7 minutes and it's cute, but I wouldn't waste time waiting for it if the place is crowded.

Very nicely displays and activities. Made for kids, but it's perfectly made for adults too. Many things to see and discover, and learn.

Its a difficult museum to write a review for. On many fronts its a great collection of artifacts, inspirational exhibits and interactive activities. On the other hand it lacks English descriptors (Leeuwarden is 2018 Cultural capital so can expect many non dutch speaking visitors). Some of the exhibits are questionable despite being very creative - it all comes down to taste I suppose. Well worth a couple of hours visit.

On a rainy day in Friesland, we were looking for an interesting indoor activity. The natuurmuseum seemed to be the perfect place, especially since I read on Trip Advisor that it boasts English descriptions.
Well, they don't really, so that's what the 4/5 is for.
You get free coffees and water in the atrium (no free drinks for the kids, though, except water), where there was a staggering exhibition of nature photographs, including some on the damage rubbish does to seabirds.
The exposition itself concentrates on the region's seafaring history, showing exhibits brought back from all four corners of the world as they used to be shown as curiosities.
It goes on to deal rather eclectically with digestion and water treatment, the senses, albinism and the Ice Age. The top floor is dedicated to Darwin and evolution.
Every section is hugely informative with innovative interactive quizzes and games.
Some of them are easily understood with a knowledge of German and English, but children definitely need help.

A beautiful building and exhibit center easy to walk to. However: Kids need help to manage this place. Its quite thorough but exhibits often seemed to go over the heads of our 6 and 4 year olds when a parent wasn't nearby to help focus. This is not an activity-centered museum as much as it is an exhibit museum. Go, however!

The museum is set up to entertain mostly children, while not shying away from "scary biology". The museum has skeletons, many tstuffed animals. They also have their own taxidermy lab, where you can visit the studio and see how taxidermy works. It's all very informative, and a very nice afternoon activity. Especially for the price.

The museum is located in a pretty building, close to the town and a park so it on a good location.
The exposition was really interesting. There's a lot to see and to learn. Nice that there's an English description as well so it's understandable for everyone.
Another nice thing is that you can take a look around the museum once you finished with the body worlds part.
The price is a bit high but it's understandable for a world famous show.

At the moment they are doing a inside out exhibit which was awesome. Entry includes free coffee and biscuit which was nice. Alot to see and plenty to learn. Unfortunately we didnt have enough time to see everything but what we did see was great. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
