Easiest way to reach Uetliberg is to take train S10 from Zurich HB and then walk about 10-15 minutes, which I choose to climb the hill. Very panoramic view from the top, can see the entire Zurich City and the beautiful Lake Zurich.
We went up the red route which was really hard, we climbed 300m in a km, so I'd recommend the blue route or the train. The views at the top were stunning. There's a cafe/bar at the top which even for Zurich is pricey.
Easy to get there, great view, cosy place to have some food and drinks. Besides there are several hiking paths around that are also children friendly. We love to come here with kids when we don’t want to go too far for a hike in...More

The train ride to the Uetliberg Mountain from the base doesn't take long but when you arrive you already feel you are out of the city. You can start your journey with something from the cafe just outside the train or make your way up...More

The standard price should be 3.10CHF per person. You should walk to Uitikon Waldegg station and take train from there. It takes about 10mins to get to the top. I don't know how fit are the parents :). I have seen old people doing it but I wouldn't recommend it for people elder than 70 years old.
